Stuck at a plateau...

I'm 34, Male, 5'8", put on muscle fairly quickly. In 2012 I lost about 40lbs. In 2013 I got stuck at a plateau. My weight fluctuated from 222 to 227 the whole year. I wasn't doing much to control my calories other than not going absolutely crazy. Barely any exercise.

2014 I started calorie counting again, and started exercising. I've dropped from 227 down to 222, and I'm at that same old wall. It's not going down. Body is fighting it.

I'm eating 1660 target, and my exercise consists of 6 days a week of 25+20 pushups, 12+9 chinups (assisted with chair), and I walk+fast jog for 20 - 30 minutes keeping my heart rate avg at 155 or so. I haven't been eating what I burn. I've only been doing this for a few weeks now. (Yes, I know 227 to 222 sounds like a lot, but it's quite common for me to swing that much in a few days)

Am I eating enough food? Am I doing enough exercise? I know I could always do more, but I'm trying to not injure myself. I'm going to keep it up regardless, but I really don't want to find out later I spent months doing it wrong.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Just curious: what is 25+20 pushups?

Aside from that, give it a few more weeks to see if you're actually holding. Make sure to food scale and such.

25 pushups, cooldown, then 20 pushups

Ah. Well definitely not exercising too much. Don't know what options you have, but if you can do some more comprehensive strength training, you'll want to do that. Pretty low intake if accurate, so you'll probably start stripping a bit of muscle with rapid weight loss and just what you're doing for training.

I am the queen of plateau's!!! I know how frustrating plateau's can be. You need to look at two things first change up your exercise usually increase it for example I was doing an hour of zumba 4 times a week and running 2 miles 3 times a week, and eating 1200 to 1400 calories a day. I increased my cardio by doing cardio pump, and increased my weights weekly, and an hr. of cardio dance same day so thats 2 hrs., then on the other days I do TRX or Spinning, and I eat all of my calories plus my exercise, but NO junk, PROTEIN is the key!!! also get amino acids if you don't all ready use them! That broke this last plateau I had. It helps to read up on muscle confusion, even invest in a couple personal training sessions!! Good Luck!!

Lets see. We're 23 days into 2014, so that's three weeks.

You've lost five pounds in three weeks .... and you are saying this is a plateau?

    Patience.

No, I lost that in the first week and a half. I've been stuck here for a week and a half. Like I mentioned, I know the way my body swings weight. This is feeling like the same old thing my body does.. gets pinned at the weight I've been at for a year, no matter what.

2 hrs... I don't know how you people put that much time into this. I think I could get through 1 session of 2 hours and I'd shoot myself before doing it again.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I decided to change my life I was lucky to be able to make exercise a priority! When I worked I had to get up really early and do it before work! Now I don't have to work so it's easier!! NOT EASY, at first, but now I love it!! Of course I can't wait to see the results!! I think I have just screwed up my metabolism so I still am not losing weight!!!

1.5 week isn't a plateau. As long as you weigh your food, you should lose with 1660 calories without any issue. But stalls happen. It's normal. Just stick to it.

No loss for a week and a half isn't a plateau, however looking at your diary it doesn't look like you're using a food scale. Weigh those bananas (and everything else). You may be eating a lot more than you think you are.
