Just upped calories, SERIOUS bloating... Help!

Hello all. I'm 5'4" and an athletic 135lbs. I lost about 25 lbs very quickly, mostly because I have food-related anxiety after a few life-threatening allergic reactions. I've been living on 4 or 5 foods for 2 months now. I recently realized how unhealthy I was, and decided to increase my calorie intake and then reintroduce more foods like fruit and vegetables. I'm only a week into increasing my caloric intake, still eating the same foods just more of them, and I've been having insane bloating, feeling full, gas, and upset stomach. It's super embarrassing, super uncomfortable, and I keep worrying that I'm having a reaction even when I know I'm not. I know I need to keep going so I won't become anorexic, but right now I feel depressed and anxious about all the weird stuff going on with my GI system. Will this go away? If so, how soon? Any words of encouragement or advice would be appreciated!

    If you've been living on only a few different foods then it will take a little while for your body to get used to new foods again. I know because I have anorexia myself and find I get very bloated initially when I increase or add in new foods. You do really need to talk to your doctor and they can refer you on to a dietician and/or other specialists who can help you with this.

    if you've just reintroduced fruit and vegetables, and even dairy and bread, you'll have some significant bloating for just a few days. Hang in there, you need the different nutrients. Drink a lot of water.
  • I've noticed that I bloat more with uncooked veggies- like salad, raw carrots.. Once I cook them I do much better. Maybe this will help!

    I second this. Avoid all uncooked vegetables, including salads and some fruits. They will hurt and cause a lot of bloating. You can reintroduce them gradually later in when your digestive system is working better. Avoid chewing gum and drinking large quantities of liquids too.
