About progressive lenses ...

Do any of you who wear glasses have progressive lenses? I just got my new glasses that have progressive lenses and reading is kinda hard. If I don't move my head from left to right as I read the text is blurry on the sides. I've always had no line bi-focals and it's a little hard to get used to these new lenses.

Question is: With what I've said above, are progressive lenses just something that takes getting used to?

Personally, I've never noticed the diff... Maybe they just need to be adjusted, no!?

I don't know really. When I ordered them they said vision to the sides can be blurry but the newer progressives like I got are better than the older ones.

I have been wearing progressive lenses for about 20 years plus. I don't notice a difference much these days
when my script upgrades. I do occasionally have to be careful going down stairs for the first few days. Have had a few embarrassing accidents if I am not careful :embarassed:
My partner got progressive lenses for the first time and it took him a while to adjust, but he has a pretty high powered lens. He had to wear them just for an hour or two and build up.

I think it it is more a fact of your eyes needing to be more precise about where they are focusing. And you have to move your head fractionally more. Some times if the frame is a little small your focus areas tend to be restricted, so you may get blurring at the side. My optician recommend gradually building up the time you wear them over a couple of weeks. But if still no good then get them rechecked/adjusted.

It took my husband about a month to get used to them. he loves them now. keep at it and you'll get used to them too.

I was just talking with my mom about these. She recently got hers, she's still getting used to them but she says she does like them. The only time she has a problem is occasionally at work when she's having to read paperwork on her desk she sometimes has to move around to 'find the right spot'. Sorry- I can't be to much help, but I think they do take a bit to get used to.

I have them. Have to move your head, not your eyes. Irritating, but got me away from readers. I do not even notice anymore, but the failure rate for progressive lenses (people quitting on them) is pretty high - like 20%.

I have them and had no problem adjusting to them. One of my co-workers has them and takes them off to walk down the stairs and it's taken her some time to adjust.

I just got progressive lenses about a week ago. The optician told me it takes two to four weeks to get used to them. Stick with it. Good luck!

I spent a ridiculous amount of money on a pair a couple years ago and HATED them. I went back 4 times to have them adjusted, never wore them. Thank GOD my husband likes them and is able to use them.

I really don't mind getting older for the most part but, the eye sight thing is really, really hard. I've never worn glasses in my life. Not being able to see sucks!
  • You get used them.....I love mine
