Calling it a "cheat day" lol

After only putting in calories for the other night (I work 3rd shift), I think its safe to say yesterday was definitely a cheat day for me. I refuse to put in the rest of the calories and horrify myself. Really trying hard to not let it bother me.

    I think you should log it, long term, you'll be able to track changes in your journey and learn from them, by not making the same mistake.

    Go, enter all those calories. Doesn't matter how much you eat in a day as long as the week balances out as a whole. So if you aim for 2000 calories a day, then make sure you only have 140000 at the end of the week. Eating more on some days and less on others keeps your body guessing and helps avoid plateaus in weight loss. Even plan a 'cheat' day once a fortnight or so, then you've something to look forward to and it's easier to hold back the treats until then.

    Sometimes the calories are less than you think, once you put them in and add them up.

    Also, if you already have a deficit, remember that the overeating has to start by cancelling out that deficit. For instance, if you're set to lose 1lb a week, you should (but not always!) have a 3500 calorie deficit over the week. You would have to eat an extra 3500 to completely cancel out your weight loss for the week and turn it into a "maintenance" week. If you've only eaten, say, 1000 calories over your goal, then you've just slowed your weight loss a little for this week.

    I think it can be reassuring to look at it that way, rather than think you are failing. The OCCASIONAL cheat day, at worst, will just slow your weight loss. The way I look at it, if cheat days are frequent, then you can look at what's going wrong (for instance, are you setting a goal that is too hard to achieve?). If they're rare, then don't worry and just get stuck back in the next day :).

    I guess it's okay to indulge oneself once in a while.. Everyone does it.. As long as it doesn't get too frequent..

    I agree with this.

    Also, you may be pleasantly surprised as it may not have been as bad as you think.
