Weight Loss Question

So lately I have looking into a lot of weight-loss success stories and it seems most people tend to do strength training and such as well; my question is, is it possible to lose the extra fat around your arms and thighs specifically with just dieting and exercise (such as running/walking) alone?

I've lost 50 lbs simply by counting calories and eating healthier. No exercise whatsoever.

Overall around my entire body I've lost 24.6" so far.

    That's your answer.

Running/Walking helps lose weight all over. If you want to tone your arms and legs..Strength training is great :)

;w; I have chubby, weak arms~ I have lost half of my desired weight so far but I haven't noticed a change in my thighs nor arms (which are my main annoyances) only in my stomach/waist. Do you have any suggestions on how to do strength training for an absolute beginner?

You can lose weight without exercise, but you will look better naked if you do some strength/resistance training...

You'll lose fat by burning more calories than you eat, but you can't spot reduce fat. It will come off where it wants to.

I lost most of my weight without strength training. About 7 months ago I started pole fitness to increase my strength and it's working wonders.
  • So far as I know, you can't "spot drop" fat. Like other have said, you'll lose it all over your entire body as you lose weight. What you can do (as others before have also said ) is work out your problem areas so the muscles underneath become more toned and visible.

I also have issues with having flubby thighs, I started the Insanity work out DVD's at the start of January and I have noticed a HUGE change in definition as well as my thighs slimming out. I'm starting to have a great set of gams and I'm pretty proud of them:wink:

Start doing some at home calisthenics, (the squat challenge, for example, or plank work, push ups even). the internet is RIPE with at home work outs that you can find for free. Do some research, find one that you like doing, and do it. The only way to build a little bit of muscle is by working them. Good luck!
  • I use leslie sansone walking dvds and jillian michaels beginner dvd and i am noticing some tightening in arms, waist and legs. Hope this helps.
