Do you ever have a blah week and then get back to it?

My grandma had a stroke. We started fostering a somewhat aggressive dog. Work sucks. This week has been blah. My motivation went bye bye. I'm still eating ok and within cals. I have had some alcohol tho. And skipped one day of exercise.

Anyone else had a blah week and then got back to it?

Yes, I've had many on my journey. I'm actually going through one right now.

Yes, I have. Last week was bad, avg cals was like 1800 :( Still lost a bit of weight at least. My exercise is all over the place normally. I am trying. The thing is, you get back up and try again, every time you get knocked down. The bad days will never stop coming but we can make the most of it. One day of missed exercise will not hurt.

Yup, sometimes life takes over and I just try to maintain. It is a lifestyle change and life ebbs and flows, you can get back the journey when things flow more smoothly.

Yep, but I've also not been in a rush to lose the weight. I've taken my time, had the bad/slow weeks and managed to lose 30 pounds in 9 months. I sure didn't break any records, but I got it off.

Yup. It happens. Stuff gets in the way. I think it was Oprah who said, "There's always another birthday party."

This is all about the long game, not what the number is at the end of this week. Keep your eyes focused on where you want to be.

I've had the most blah week this week. Last weekend I got hypothetmia, and my body was wrecked Monday and Tuesday. (I couldn't feel my toes for half of Monday) and then I had a presentation in school on Friday in a seminar. I spent all week working on it and didn't exercise at all. I was in need of a rest day or two anyways and it turned into 5. Oh well. I stayed within calories and I didn't gain weight.

My plan is to shake it off and start over next week. Sometimes weeks just suck.

Have your blah week, enjoy your blah week, and then get your butt back to the gym. You might even find your gym performance has improved! Just don't let those blah weeks start stacking up and you should be good.

To paraphrase a quotation I read around here somewhere: If you fell down a couple of stairs, would you then throw yourself down the whole flight? Of course you wouldn't! Slip-ups and the acceptance that life happens and we are not perfect beings are a fundamental part of our existence. You need to make this sustainable, and that means that sometimes, you have a rough week, but then you keep on trekking. A healthy lifestyle is a lifelong journey. ^_^

(And sorry for the tough times you're going through right now.)

Yes. My schedule this week has been insane and I've only worked out twice, and tonight I had a breakdown when I came home (snow, Valentine's Day, you name it) and was so tempted to destroy my calorie count.

This thread's replies are just so motivating. I had a blah week last week but still somehow managed to maintain my weight instead of putting it on. This week, I have worked my butt off so far. Working more to account for the extra calories I will eat during the weekend. Hopefully, my Sunday weigh-in should look good.

I don't go behind records or losing weight really quick. I want it off my body, that's all. A blah week might actually push you harder the next week.

Sure, I keep getting 'back on track; if you will and the weight is still coming off. Sometimes it's frustrating because the weight doesn't come off as fast as I'd like it to. But then cookies.

I've had a lot of days/weeks where I completely over eat/eat crap - lots of crap or don't work out in the past year.

    A lot. :drinker:

Yeah, sometimes its hard when you have a stressful week. I am wondering how I will do my work outs next week because my supervisor decided to switch my evenings to days. ( Of course on days I do not have class ). I was getting used to evenings and planning my work outs and eating around it. So we will see...

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my grandmother in 2006 and began having weird eating troubles shortly after. I frequently went from fasting/not feeling like eating to binging during that time. One day I would eat an entire pizza and then the next survive off banana peppers, sugar free Jello ( 60 kcal ) and Diet Coke. It was just a weird time for me.

We have all had blah weeks and all you need to do is just back on track. I wish you luck!

I haven't had a full blah week, but I have at least one or two blah days every week. Sadly for me, they don't start out blah, but I love my beer and I ultimately turn great days into blahs. I think everyone goes off the rails during their 'journeys". No worries. Pick yourself up as best you can, get back on the wagon, so to speak, and forge ahead. So many of us have "miles to go before I sleep". Cheers to a much better week. :flowerforyou:

Well yesterday I went berserk. I ate a cheese and grease filled Mexican lunch, came home and drank too many rum and diet cokes, and finished my day off by eating an entire papa john's medium thin crust pizza. I went ahead and logged it all and I ended up eating nearly 3000 calories for the day. It's done, I got it out of my system, and I'm ready to go back to being healthy again. I'm heading to Germany in three weeks, so I really want to to focus these next three weeks.

See, I just call that a "refeed" and then I can tell myself that it was good and necessary! :smokin: And honestly, I usually do have really great days for several days after my refeed, so I'm at the point where I do it on purpose when I start noticing myself losing motivation and energy.
