I have. Tried a few diff kinds because they all had diff effects. I take them for a couple medical issues tho. I specifically take acidophilus. Its helped, but I don't take it for weight loss reasons0

Success? In terms of what?
I have a supplement that tastes revolting, however I noticed I felt a lot 'healthier' and never got sick0 -
I have heard they help to break down Fats, Carbs and proteins and helps to regulate your bowel movement. Its supposed to practically flush you out.0

Very few probiotics have been studied sufficiently to make me think they're anything useful. One exception is the probiotic in Align branded products, which has been shown to be better than placebo for people with IBS.0

There was a lady studying this stuff on here a year or so back...no clue how to find her posts, but genuinely useful.
I find the main benefit of most probiotics I have taken is increased stool size. It's probably increased due to increased bacteria passing through though...
It's my understanding that they really only work when taking them and you lose the effects within about 3 days.

There was a study that came out recently showing that women taking probiotic supplements lost more weight (and maintained that weight loss better) than women taking a placebo. Interestingly, men didn't seem to experience the same effect. I just recently started taking probiotic supplements. We'll see how it goes!0

Here's a link to the story about it. The headline is misleading though, because the study had nothing to do with yogurt. The people in the study were taking probiotic capsules, not eating yogurt (which has much lower levels of probiotic than supplements). I'm definitely not an expert or anything--and I usually don't buy into any hype about supplements. This seems worth further study, though!

This was a old post but....
I take a women's complete with 90 billion live cultures and 12 strains. It costs me an arm and a leg but when I don't take it I am very susceptible to getting gastroenteritis and food poisoning. I work at an infant and toddler daycare so stomach viruses are every where and I always get them if I am not taking my probiotic. And when I get gastroenteritis I end up in the emergency room within two hours of the onset of symptoms because I am completely dehydrated and can't stop vomiting.... so I would like to avoid that. I am under the impression that I have a crappy intestinal immune system but haven't had any tests to confirm this and haven't been told this by a medical professional either...0
