Can't help you with the scoliosis but I had sciatica and it was horrible. I went to a physical therapist and had decompression treatment and it took care of it although I have twinges every now and then. That may be worth checking into. Sciatica will not go away on its own.

there are many different wayso to exercise. Jogging can be very harmful if you have any kind of back or joint problem. Stick to no impact exercises like the elliptical or the arc trainer. I have had back problems for years, but fitness has been a lifelong part of my life. No impact is definitely the way to go. Swimming is a another consideration, as is biking. Check with a reputable physical therapist to get some sound advice.0 -
Get to a physical therapist and stress that exercising is a goal. They will help you with your sciatica and help suggest exercises.
I have scoliosis and what took care of back pain was weight lifting and strength training. The stronger your back is, the better. But you can't start strength training until you know how to it safely as recommended by a professional.0 -

My mom had surgery on her back to correct he scoliosis. She gets massages and says that working out helps. You just have to be careful and do the exercises that your physical therapist recommends. I have scoliosis so I'm careful not to do anything that could throw off my symmetry. Even carrying a heavy purse can start a chain reaction.0

I have scoliosis, sciatica and small fractures in my lower spine... I know from experience how hard it is to find exercises that work for you. I agree with many of the previous posts though, swimming and cross trainer are my two favourite. Low impact and easy movements. Walking and an exercise bike are my close runner ups.
I have found that you just need to take it easy, and when it hurts, stop. As time goes by, so long as you stick at it, your back should get stronger, allowing you to do more.0 -
It hurts all the time though *sigh* and its only meant to be mild! Hate to imagine what it would be like if it wasnt mild! Thanks for all the input though!0

I find I am in pain all the time as well, but there are levels of pain for me. When the pain is on the lower end of the threshold I keep going. When I start to get that stabbing pain like a metal stake being driven into my heel or my back tightens up it feels like it's going to turn itself inside out, I know I have gone too far. Work with your Dr and/or specialist to find what works for you.0
