Alright guys so I have a new baby on the way that will be here by March 10 at the latest. Does anybody have any ideas of how I can manage to stay fit and healthy while having a newborn. I am worried all my hard work will be lost when the baby gets here. Thanks guys!

Congratulations!!!! How exciting! Here is a web site I found

I found it really hard once my baby wasn't a newborn to be honest! I stayed generally pretty healthy throughout preg, didn't gain too much weight (11kgs but it really was mostly baby!). With breastfeeding I lost all of my baby weight and then some. I was lighter after breastfeeding than I was before I got preg. Unfortunately once you stop breastfeeding it is very easy to gain
My advice would be:
1. Don't rush into it. In the beginning your body needs time to recover, remember that you vital organs have actually been crammed up in your ribcage for months and unfortunately things just take time to setlle back down. And if you have a c-section...be extra patient. I know society has become a little flippant about it these days and the procedure is much better...BUT ITS STILL SURGERY
2. Walking with bubs is by far the most enjoyable way to exercise, and means you are not trying to cram exercise time in while baby is napping (and when you will have a million other things to do). Plus while your abdominal wall is healing it is gentle.
Once bubs is older and awake a lot more that is when it gets difficult, but I have found being organised during the day (have dinner ready to go, or even alreeady cooked in the oven/slow cooker) helps out a lot at night, means that after his bedtime or even after dinner I can leave him with dad and get out of the house for a walk or run.0 -
I exercise during naptimes. kickboxing/dance during one nap, weights/bodyweight exercises another nap, and cardio after she goes down for the night.
Congrats on your little one!0 -

lol. op is male.
Just means he's a good dad, and plans on being hands on!
OP, it will be difficult. My son is almost 11 months now, and it has just been within the last few months that he's really been on a good sleeping schedule, so I know I can get in a workout before he wakes up if I wake up at X time. Until then, fit it in when you can. I assume you will have the mom helping you . Use her one-on-one time with baby to exercise. Getting things done while baby napped was not a possibility for me because he. never. slept. Hopefully you'll have a good sleeper0 -

Exactly! In anycase he is one of my friends and just didn't want anyone else wasting time telling him to rest after giving birth or stuff like that :laugh:0 -

You guys are too funny!
Just try not to be too hard on yourself. You will need time to rest, even dads have to sleep too! Just take it easy for a few weeks until you can get a schedule down and try not to be too hard on yourself!0 -
So it has been over 30 years since I had a baby, but as I recall, it was easy to stay fit during the baby and toddler years. As I look back on that time, I can think of a few reasons: I never sat down to eat a whole meal without either having a baby or toddler on my lap and trying to eat one-handed or getting up and down a dozen times during a meal to retrieve things from the floor next to the high chair. I also found that the physical activity of managing a young child deterred my natural inclination to veg out on the sofa. In addition, I was conscious of buying and serving healthier foods when my daughters were very young because I didn't want them to develop poor eating habits.
I never started gaining weight until those early years were over.0 -
Thank you guys for all the great advice. I am looking forward to our new addition being here. Hopefully I will be able top start a blog and keep everybody updated along the way! If anybody would be interested in me writing a blog let me know. I do not want to bore people!0
