So much harder the second time around

Hello,
I am a repeat offender! I worked very hard and lost over 80 pounds about five years ago and have slowly added back about 30 pounds... I am furious with myself and ready to do something different. The hardest part is getting my eating back under control. Not so much portions but ideas of things to eat! I was so focused before and not as much anymore. I am hoping to find motivation to stay the course and make the hard choices staying away from the foods I know don't help me reach my goal!!

This is also my second time around ... this time I started off way heavier than I was the first time :frown: :frown: :frown:
I am trying to convince myself it is like Harry Potter when he went back in time and saw himself conjure the patronus charm
He later said, " I knew I could do it this time, because... well, because I'd already done it!

I lost 80+ pounds when I was 15, and after two years of maintenance I began to put it all back on over the last year, plus a little extra. I'm having a sleeve done in May to help ensure I keep it off this time, so it's extra hard for me to stay motivated. I wanted to lose 15-20 pounds by then, just for my own self esteem and health.

I know how you feel! I started my weight loss in May 2011 all the way to January 2013, and lost 106lbs! I was still far from my goal, and I ended up gaining back 28 pounds all through 2013, after my trip to England. A lot of bad things happened then, and 2012 was a horrible year, and I got REALLY depressed. I just ate all day and laid around the house, and didn't care. I think I've gotten my head back right. :frown:0

totally love Harry Potter.....totally get it!!!!.....good luck this time around.....I'm still on the first time....have never quit....got down from 172lb to 118lb at my lowest.....then started lifting and gradually the scale has climbed back up....it's doing my head in!!!!!....right now it's 128lb....I'd be happy to get back down to 120lb.....feel free to add me.....I live here.....:)0

Don't feel too bad, I've gained and lost 55-94 lbs about 4 times in the past 25 years. The only difference now is, I have MFP and a support team. I see this as very sustainable.0

i went from 285 to 225 to 265 back to where i am now. Sometimes you need to fail to refocus yourself and realize what you want and how bad you want, my problem was when i hit 220/225 i started to coast a little and got content too easily, now that will never happen again.0

This is my 2nd time around too, because after getting lose to my goal weight I got pregnant and now I get to enjoy the journey again and celibate the little victories all over again too.
Also, if you aren't already using quinoa, give it a try! There are about a million recipes and the portions are low cal and high protein for the portion size. I made some last night. For two servings I used 1/2 cup quinoa (just plain bulk) and a little over 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup OJ and a teeny bit of vegetable base (I like it better than veg broth or bullion). Then I added in some chopped celery and sweet onion and served it over a little bit of chicken breast.0 -
