Hi I'm trying to lower my body fat down to 15-20% I workout at least 5x a week: 3 days of strength training (35 minutes or more) 2 days of cardio (no more than 45 minutes). I eat 1300 calories a day. Can you guys give me any advice to lower my body fat? I'm at a 26% currently.

  • exactly what your doing! just stay consistent. I noticed when i cut down on cardio and lift heavy i've seen a bigger difference in my body fat percentage. Eat clean, lean, and make sure your getting enough protein

    Adherence, adjustments, and time.

strength train and strength train hard. strength training for 35 minutes means nothing to me. what kind of strength training are you doing??

also, as far as cardio goes, same question. what kind of cardio are you doing?

I'm doing Hiit for cardio since its too cold to run right now. I'm using dumbbells in my strength training. I do total body strength training.

I eat 1300 calories I hardly ever eat my workout calories I usually net around 800 or more calories on food depending on how much I workout.

That doesn't sound like enough calories to me.

More time, and I wouldn't eat back those cardio days. For me, I gained by carb cycling.

This sounds like a recipe for losing a lot of body *weight*, but not necessarily body *fat*. It's also very likely that your adherence will be sketchy.

I highly recommend that you reconsider this approach.

ETA: To clarify, I'm not saying OP won't lose body fat also...its just she may lose more muscle mass than she would like to lose in the process. 800 net is a pretty significant deficit.

I would up your eating by 200-300 cals, but other than that everything looks great!

If you're doing that I bet you are.

Certainly if you're losing weight while doing that you definitely are. If you're roughly maintaining your current weight while doing that you probably are.
