Hi
I am new at mfp, and I am loving it. Now I can control what I I eat. The problem for me so far with the mfp is to enter homemade food. Any tips?

I find it easiest and most accurate to make a recipe adding the raw ingredients and how many portions I'm making. That way everything is exactly from what I put in, as my cooking will be slightly different every time I make it.0

You can use the recipe function and put all ingredients in.
Divvying it into servings can be tricky. Some like to eyeball it, and that works for them. I use a bit of math and a kitchen scale.0 -
i eat a lot of homemade food, but never make recipes the same way twice! i just enter the individual ingredients and don't bother with herbs or spices that have no calories or nutritional value. there are some things already in the database that are 'close enough' like if you want to look up 'homemade cream gravy' and will usually have some type of description like "using milk" or "using cream" and then a measurement. for me, those are close enough. add the word 'homemade' to some of your search queries and see what i mean ...0
