Hi, I have been on a low calorie(800-1000/ day) and low carb(80-100/day) diet for almost one year. I have lost a lot of weight 116lbs but my question is I have not been on plan for almost 2 months and I cannot seem to get back on plan, it is a lot harder now then when I started before I think because I am at the high end of my healthy weight range. I weigh in at 146 and I am 5'4" my goal is to make it to 125 and stay their. What is your experience with carbs? I have gained some weight back when I introduce carbs other then vegetables. I am not sure what to do. I also have all the product to use up, I think my caps are to low but not sure for carbs or do people not worry about them. This may be confusing but thanks in advance.

I have found that cutting out carbs can get me off a plateau. I don't do a low carb diet necessarily, but am trying to keep carbs to a minimum in evening. Instead will get in those healthy grains at lunch instead. With a nice turkey sandwich or wrap or something. Sometimes some brown rice or pasta in evenings, but I have trouble with rice and pasta portion control! :ohwell:0

First of all, your calories are too low, you're not eating enough.
How much do you exercise? You need carbs for fuel. A low carb diet is healthy, but you can go overboard and not get what you need.0 -
Do you plan on staying on a low carb eating plan for the rest of your life? If not, you need to learn how to gradually add them back into your diet. The one thing I have found that works best for me, is to enjoy my starchy carbs (whole grains, sweet potato) only after my workouts. The rest of the day, I limit them to only veggies and some fruits. I tend to eat 6-8 servings of veggies a day and maybe one piece of fruit, and this keeps my carbs in check while still providing me with nutrients and fiber.0

I have not done the low carb thing, though I have done lowER carbs than I usually eat, which, probably puts me at a normal carb level! But, being off for so long, why not try to jump in slowly? you are not at an insane weight for your height - no need to be on such a drastic starvation diet any longer - why not try 1200 or even 1500 cals a day to get back in (I dont know what your maintenance goal is, but anything under that you will lose weight!) or, just set to maintenance to get back in the game so you dont gain anything and then cut down a bit here and there to get back on a deficit. Even 1/2 a lb a week is still weight loss! it might take longer, but it's healthy and who cares how long it takes if you get there w/out depriving yourself and making yourself miserable? you're more likely to stay on track when you make that goal weight then!
Regarding the carbs, if you have been on a low diet like that some of the carb weight gain MAY just be your body readjusting to eating more? I just try to be aware and eat fewer than before, like maybe an open top sandwich or a wrap instead of a full sandwich, Wgrain where i can, skip the toast or eat 1/2 a piece, make pasta the side dish not the main course, etc. Who knows how your body reacts to carbs though, I know some people's are different. But, crazy medial cases aside, carbs or no carbs, if you are maintaining or in a deficit you should lose weight. Just be realistic about the timeframe for these last 20! (It might take another full year to do it, though you did over 100 the first year! Especially if you put on more muscle, which tends to happen as you get closer, providing you are working out.... also a great use of carbs!)0 -
Right now I go to the gym 3 days a week, one of those days is zumba class, the others weights and elliptical.0
