Don't let the snow stop you from getting up and getting out there! We can do this! I got up and we had like 2 inches of snow out there and thought there was no way..just going to the store to get coffee next door I can feel it was hard and icy with the mix of snow..but go out and there and try your best and stay active through these long, winter months!

I walked to work this morning through snow that was up to my knees at some points and up to my shins in most. We live at the top of a big hill. It is about four miles to work and it took about an hour and ten minutes. Getting there wasn't bad, but after four hours, the manager said that I could go home. Going up the big hill in the snow was tough going, but I made it back and it still took an hour and ten minutes! I was shocked!!! Everyone stay safe out there! xx

I can't wait to get some real snow on the ground so I can break out the snowshoes! :)
  • It's not the snow that bothers me, it's the -20C, -25C weather outside :( lol What should I do?
  • We are having a big snowstorm even as we speak (write)! My 20 minute commute turned into 45 minutes, but at least I made it in. Several people in my office didn't. I am fortunate that my office has installed a workout room in one of the storerooms and I can work out there.

Layers, hats. gloves..do what you can to stay warm! Sometimes i have to swear a shirt, a hoodie, then a jacket with hat, scarf, and gloves and I'm still freezing my butt off lol

I have a pair of sweat pants and i can throw on my windbreaker pants on top of that.

that reminds me - I could go ice-skating. 30min would probably burn off that 0,75L of pepsi I drank (ex-roomie had ordered food and got an extra bottle)
  • LOL. Perfect timing, it's snowing here too (lake effect), same amount. You must live in michigan. :)

Get out and keep your walk cleared every day and you'll get a good calorie burning workout that you can add to your log. :-)

  • Ditto! I've heard people say its like rollerblading and other say it's nothing like it. I know Rosa Parks Circle (Grand Rapids) has open skate in the winter and i think they still offer lessons as well.

Yup! Did you ever see that episode of Big Bang Theory when Sheldon points out that they have to eat 5000 calories a day just to maintain their bodyweight when they go on a n expedition to Antarctica?

    * Its a nerdy comedy about mid-20’s physicists/roommates if you haven't seen it, youtube it!

It's snowing here too right now but just enough to cover the roads but not enough to shovel :-( I'm looking forward to getting out and shoveling some of that white stuff for exercise. I must be crazy...lol!

I go for a walk outside almost everyday. With the snow we get here, I use my pair of ''COW FUR BOOTS'' ..!!! Those are the warmest boots I ever had. I had a pair since I was a kid but I got a new pair 15 years ago and they still look like new. I just changed the inside foam once. They are expensive but all worth it.
  • Meh, I'm gonna go for a walk! Wish me luck! I'll let you guys know how it went when I get back :)

No real snow here yet. I just decided to run on the treadmill instead. First time I've done that in years. I found it to be harder than running on the road, etc. even at the same pace.
  • Very eventful whilst walking my dog :) I saw a ice patch, well, needless to say, my shoe got soaked :P, We also met a doggy friend, and I found a penny on the ground! :D Lol!
    Anyways,
wanted to thank you all for making me get off my *kitten* and get moving :P
I feel a ton better! :flowerforyou:

You apparently don't know what else they did to keep warm... hee

My issue with going out for walks right now is that d*** wind! If it is warmer I can bring myself to go out in it, but I can't go out without my dog. Okay I can, but I won't, and she is only 5 pounds on her fat days. I don't want to turn my dog into a kite!

The other issue, that I need to work on getting over, is now when I get home it is dark... I get a little creeped out going for walks in the dark. I live in a decent neighborhood, and I can walk along a fairly busy street, but there is still something about it that creeps me right out.

And yes... I COULD get up and go before work, but I am fairly certain the dog would actually kill me in my sleep if I did that. She is more of a late sleeper than I am (and she is still a puppy! yay for dogs that like to sleep in...lol!)

They exist??????????????, dogs that lie in?????????????????? please tell my two! they do everything in their power to get me up in the dark! I am jealous

lol true story! I get her out at 6am to do her thing, many days, and once she is done she comes back in and goes back to bed. On weekends she glares at me if I get out of bed before 8am. I am afraid to get another dog for fear that this will change. lol
