Hi ALL!

I have a question. I most definately want to get myself a HRM here soon in the near future. My only concern is that I may become overly obsessed with it.

I know it is a great tool, but I see myself constantly obsessing with what I am doing, burning, bla bla bla.

I have one and only use it during work outs. I set a burn goal and workout until I reach it.

It's awesome. The best investment I have made for my weightloss.

I only wear it for workouts and not day to day activities. Anything I burn over and above my workout calories is a bonus :)

I only use mine for workouts, and I love it!! I am a little obsessed during my workouts about how hard I am working, but not overly!

I love mine! I only use it during workouts as well. Gives me an indication on how hard I'm working and if I need to pick up the pace.
  • Like everyone else above me, I only use mine for workouts.

I really like mine, but on certain days I do make a point of not wearing it. For example, if I have a limited amount of time to spend at the gym, I don't want to beat myself up if I don't reach a certain calorie goal-- in that situation, I would prefer to do my best in the time that I have and not worry about the specific calorie burn.

Also, when I do classes like pilates that are clearly good for me but not huge calorie-burners, I don't always track calories.

Only for workouts...but the first time you forget it during a workout you will be pissed

Any suggestions on a good one?

I'm only "obsessed" with mine if I'm doing something that involves me bending in a way it could stop reading. If there is a position in say a yoga dvd that I know has caused it to stop reading in the past, I will not only tighten up the chest strap and make sure it's right under the bra band, I'll check the monitor a couple of times during and IMMEDIATELY after. Ditto if it's a similar position.

i bought a polar f4 HRM about 2weeks ago and tbh i'm a little obsessed with it during a workout...i have to hit a certain goal or i feel well down...but it is an amazing tool...the treadmill was telling me i was burning 1500cals a session...in fact it was only 900!

if i forget to wear it, and i know that i've worked out as hard as i did the last time i wore it(doing the same kind of workout) then i just guess and log about the same, or a little less than i did the last time i used it...i never really beat myself up over not using it

I use mine for workouts only. Although I have thought about using it while I clean or something but never end up doing it since I don't record those calories anyway.

like everyone, I only use mine for workouts. I have the polar F6, and I love it! What I like about it is that it tells me how many minutes were spent doing light, moderate, and hard activity, and how many minutes were spent "inzone", which is basically the range of heart rate you want to stay in during a workout.

    best 90$ spent

Ha!! I agree with TRAV- I only use mine during workouts....BUT that first time you forget it, you are PISSED! I kinda get addicted to looking at mine during my actual workouts....it is great for interval training!

I just bought mine in September and feel it is one of the best purchases i have ever made!!!!!
