Hi Folks.
I was diagnosed with Graves Disease (Overactive Thyroid) about 2 years ago.
Since i started taking the medication ive done nothing but put more and more weight on even though my thyroid levels are still high!
I ve spoken to my specialist about this and im told i will calm down and i will go back to my normal weight but nothings changed and im gaining more all the time.
Is there anyone with similar issues or advice for me?
Thanks x

You might be surprised once you get into tracking and measuring your food what it is you are actually eating.
Now that you are here on MFP ... see how things go, and if no improvement or you're not seeing any results by eating a healthy & balanced diet, working out on a regular basis, then I'd suggest getting a second, or even third opinion.

Have you had any luck? I'm in a similar situation, but I've only been on the anti thyroid meds for three months.0

I've been on Tapazole 30mg since May 2013, haven't seen much improvement in my blood results, but have gained a little over 20lbs despite A LOT of working out and eating the healthiest I've eaten my whole life. I'm hoping there is someone out there that can tell me when they went off of their medication all the weight fell off Any advice for losing weight with Graves Disease while on Tapazloe/Methimazole?0

I know many people in the proper TSH (0-5) - 2.5 being optimal, and they all struggle to lose weight or keep it down. Good luck and maybe work with a nutrionist and endocrinolgist.0

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm struggling with the same issue. It seems that the weight jumps on overnight no matter what I do.0
