A good read for everyone asking the best way to lose weight.

It is geared for women, but applies to all.

This article totally hit home for me! Being very fit as teenager from being an active dancer/cheerleader, I never had to worry about weight or fat until I stopped being so active in college. Then came the yo-yo dieting trend, every time I thought I was at my fattest weight, I would amaze myself with a new maximum weight that I had become. Reading this article, it makes sense why. My weight loss in the past all were a result of just diet, not the activity/fitness. According to this article, I've lost muscle which is why I keep gaining weight now instead of losing it.
Now if only I could find time to fit in more productive work-outs... I am trying to fit them more into my routine, but I know I could be doing better with this...0 -
This sentence from the article -
"A reduction of only 500 calories per day from your usual intake will equal a one pound of weight loss per week."
- is not necessarily true. That would only apply if one were maintaining their weight. If they are actively gaining weight, then they would have to cut more thna 500 to expect to lose a pound per week.
But mostly I'm just in to see the over-reactions to the last 2 paragraphs.0 -
Starving yourself and low calorie might work in your 30s but as women age exercise and intense exercise and lifting is a must. I personally do not lose weight on even a 1200 calorie diet without exercise and you will regain it if you do lose it when you stop exercising. I work with 4 women the 2 i never see eat are overweight, me and the other always bring our lunch and have done some form of exercise. I also notice that in almost 2 years of going to bc class the ones that are consistently there are at their goal or close ,the need to lose ones for the most part give up. I used to see fit women running or working out i thought why, they look great, took awhile to realize this is what it takes especially if you want to enjoy certain foods. Great article and especially like that it was written by a 59 woman.0
