 I am familiar with the difference between training & lifting (having a Dad who used to Weight lift)
My curiosity is should I begin by weight Training with cardio first to shed more actual weight prior to trying to actually gain muscle? Or can I weight Lift & do cardio and gain muscle that way...(I still have I would say 50-60lbs to lose still to be in a weight range I feel would be acceptable when it comes to being "FIT")
I am absolutely obsessed with the thought of being fit but, not skinny fit but, solid, strong NOT overly bulky but, beyond toned. Hope this makes some sense. Baaahhh.... :/ Currently been using Kettle bells watching videos on Youtube (men) workouts not the cardio ones. Loving it btw. And The Kettle bells I have are very low weights. I am just a beginner so...yah :blushing:

what pray tell is the difference between weight training and weight lifting? or do you mean weight training/lifting vs strength training?

anyway,i dont quit understand your question. are you asking which you should do first in a session? or are you asking which you should focus on first in general terms of your weight loss.

if it's the former then do weights first because this will be the only way to get through your workout once you get to heavier weights. if it's the latter then do both at the same time where some days you focus on cardio and others on weights.

oh and depending on your strength levels to begin with, you more than likely will not be building muscle eating a deficit and using light kettlebells.

Combine your weight lifting with cardio. For example, I often do bench/incline press with flutterkicks at the same time, or 5 minute drills with no rest (push-ups, sit-ups, squats, burpees and repeat in sets of 10 for 5 minutes).

I do a lot of weight lifting -- my goal is to be beyond "toned" also. Good to start with manageable weights, focus on proper form, and work up. Sounds like you're already doing a lot of the right things.

Training is training. Weightlifting is weightlifting. These are just words, what is most important is challenging your mind and body. Volume, workload, frequency etc..... Once you got that heavy *kitten* weight to deal with none of those words mean ****. If you can think about all that stuff while you are "lifting" then you need to increase your load! Now go train with those weights

Exactly!! At the end of the day, resistance is resistance, doesn't really matter where it comes from, or what you call it. It's all about progressing towards what you are doing to reach your goal, the path you take to get there is totally up to you.

Interesting. I've been doing this stuff for over 20 years and this is a first.
Please explain your definition and point out the difference between weight training and weight lifting?
