Hi i am 5'4" and at 194 lb down from 224 so far so good. I'm a brittle asthmatic and most of my weight gain has been down to steroid medications i'm still on. I've been doing some cardio classes at local gym mainly zumba 3/4 times a week and i want to add some weight based classes/exercises to the mix, but i've found that when i try to do things like squats lunges etc i tend to go dizzy? is this common? do you think that it is because my body isn't used to doing it and is saying "what the hell"?? maybe i need to eat more before i go to the gym but i never go on an empty stomache and always drink plenty as well. I tried a legs bums tums class at the weekend and thought was going to fall over i had to sit down... felt a right idiot!! I'm not out of breath so i don't think its asthma related. Any ideas ? any help or advise would be appreciated as i don't want to give up at the first hurdle!

I couldn't even begin to offer advice because all I could offer would be don't exercise without fuel and keep well hydrated, which you said you do.
I hope you get an answer though as that sounds awful....
Good luck x0 -
Are you breathing properly? A lot of people hold their breath when they exercise and don't realize it. When the force is being exerted, make sure to breath out. I did this mistake a lot when doing deadlifts. I would hold my breath, until the very end when I put the weight back down, would make me very dizzy, now I breath out at the top and again at the bottom. Some people don't need to and only breath out when back down. Find what works for you, if that is the issue.0

This happens to me every time I get busy and get to work. That just means you are doing it right. Challenge yourself, and you will become a champion. I have passed out, projectile vomitted, and seen stars. When I vomitted, my trainer at the time made me finsh not only that set but the entire workout. He acted like it happened all of the time and didn't bat an eye. I did have to clean it up though. Keep it up champ !!!!0

Hahaha I hear ya! been there, done that, and still finished my workout as well. I just don't think everyone is as "crazy" as we are, and might not work for everyone!0 -
