Newbie, muscle gain question

Hi there, I'm new to MFP, just set it up today after realising the food database was much better than S Health. I have selected that I want to 'maintain weight' but ideally I'd like to gain muscle mass. Should I have selected that I wanted to 'gain weight' instead?

That depends on a lot of things like your body type and current weight and have you been lifting for long? If you are new to lifting you will make gains regardless. Maintain will work for you unless you are under weight, and try to get at least 100g of protein.. The calculator doesn't know you want to build muscle so it will give you a lower number on protein than you actually need.0

At least a gram of protein per pound of body weight.
Ex: I'm 170 lbs, so 170g of protein. I intake over 200 though.0
