Paleo lifestyle and counting calories?

My husband and I are thinking about trying to switch to a mostly paleo diet and really clean out eating up. Anyone know anything about how many calories one should be intaking when eating this way. MFP is telling me 1200 a day to lose a pound per week which I know is on the low side. I am about 5 foot 4 inches tall and about 195 pounds as of right now.

Also, anyone have any good resources for paleo recipes? TIA

Same number as you would have to eat if you were eating any other way - paleo, clean, etc makes no difference.

Any cooking more complicated than roasting is by definition non-paleo. Cavemen didn't have kitchens, at most they had an open fire on a hearth.

Hi there! We just started the 30-day Paleo Solution Challenge (Robb Wolf book) at our house 17 days ago. Husband, daughter and me. Making great progress.

There are lots (so many) recipes on pinterest - and on different blogs. Most suggest that you start by keeping the food simple rather than trying to recreate things like muffins in paleo recipes. That seems to have worked for us. Meatballs in low-sugar marinara (or home-made), paleo chili (crazy good), spicy chicken bites and smoothies with egg whites, plain unsweetened almond milk, almond butter and your choice of fruits/veggies have been great for us. Salads with avocado, walnuts and boiled eggs and olive oil/vinegar based dressings have been wonderful too. Braised greens are amazing.

I cleaned out the fridge and freezer and put stuff in the basement fridge for the 30 days. Also cleaned out the pantry (threw a lot of stuff out) and packaged it up and put in the basement. Made it easier.

Enjoy! Friend me if you want!
