Hi,
I've been recommended green tea tablets by several people and I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on this as a supliment are?
It looks like it can't do me any harm, and might just help me, so it might be worth a try!
the one I'm looking at is from holland and barrett and has green tea, vit b6, chromium, caffine, ginger, guarana, bladderwrack and uva ursi, all as extracts.
thoughts plese!
thank you for your time xxxx

I rather just drink green tea than take it in tablet form, but I haven't seen evidence green tea has any effect on weight loss whatsoever, I now drink less green tea and my weight drops as fast as before.0

The problem with Garcinia Cambogia (Green Tea Pills) and Green Coffee Bean Extract is that the stuff that you can buy at Target & WalMart usually isn't concentrated or "pure".
If you want a really good stimulant free fat loss supplement look into RSP Nutritions QudraLean
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/rsp-nutrition/quadralean.html
I've been taking it for over a week now and I feel great using it. It's a blend of 4 fat-burning components. The best part is that it's stimulant free. Basically you won't feel wired, jittery, sweaty or "buzzed" by taking it.
Check it out and feel free to message me if you want more info on it. I wouldn't suggest any supplement that I haven't taken or tried before.

You might find it worth talking to the staff in the stores. I spoke to the manageress in the GNC store where I live (same mother company as H&B) and she recommended not going with tablets, but with post workout protein drinks... although everyone is different.
Any company should recommend what is good for you, rather than what will make them the most profit after all.0 -

Post workout protein shakes are great for muscle recovery and help aid in lactic acid buildup...also known as "DOMS" (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). They are also a great way to get in extra protein to hit those numbers.
Protein shakes (whey protein) is not a replacement for a fat burning supplement.
You really do not NEED any supplements to lose weight because true weight loss is simple as eating LESS calories.
Calories In / Calories Out.
These supplements do help with overall health & wellness though.0 -

OP:
Save your money. If you like green tea, drink it, but do not waste your money on the pills.0 -
I have taken them religiously before with absolutely no results.
If you want something with caffeine to give you some zip, then drink black coffee or take a nodoze. But I don't recommend using anything with caffeine regularly because of caffeine's addictive properties. If you ever miss you dose or cup of coffee you could have headaches, sometimes even migraines. And I feel it is pretty hard on the body.
I will say that DRINKING tea in general has helped curb my appetite. The warm fluid expands the digestive tract, helping with feelings of fullness. It also helps me have a flavored beverage that increases my water intake. I'm not good about getting that 8 glasses of water in per day. Sometimes I drink green teas, either flavored or not (like stash's pomegranite raspberry green tea, mmmmm) sometimes I drink oolong or black. Both have some caffeine to them but not enough that it effects me or makes me feel like I MUST have a cup of tea. When it is later in the evening I switch to herbal teas if I'm feeling hungry at work but am out of food (have to pack a lunch, but hit a snack craving at around 8pm) This has helped decrease my need or want of a snack.
But the number one thing that I feel has helped curb my appetite, used some calories, and makes me feel BETTER, is making myself exercise. The feeling after I finish a Zombies, Run workout is crazy! So if you're looking to boost your mood and how you look and feel, movement is AWESOME. I just have to continue to remember that.0 -
Just drink green tea. It's probably cheaper than pills, anyway. I drink about 3 cups daily and have noticed that it does help with weight loss, but obviously you have to eat better and count calories along with drinking the tea.0

Green tea doesn't actually make you lose weight, but drinking plenty of water might. I personally would nix the tablet, and stick with hot water and tea leaves.0

One of my closest friends did his PhD in Green tea and the effects of fat metabolism.
A recent quote "I'm writing a new review article to summarise all of my results to date on green tea. It pretty much concludes that no matter whether you are having 1, 2, 4 or 8 cups a day, taking tablets, using other supplements alongside, or taking them for one day, ten days, ten weeks or six months it will have no effect on fat metabolism or body composition"
He's probably the most informed person on green tea around so that's a conclusion as far as im concerned.

QFT and ta for clarification on my post.
When I first went into GNC before Christmas last year the manageress said to me... (possibly not word perfect but the gist of it is there)
"If I sell you something you will probably only come back in two weeks and I will have failed you. You could take anything in here but there is no guarantee it will work until your diet is controlled..."
So, after having been on MFP since 1st Jan and having lost over a stone, I did indeed go back in there. I still didn't come out with any fat burning pills, but she did recommend a post workout protein shake, which I did go with.
OP - Good luck, from reading other people's posts, green tea is not the answer - but seek advice if you feel that a tablet supplement can help.0 -
Hi,
Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my post!
I have found this site to be really helpful and have succesfuly lost weight in the month I've been on here.
I was recomended the specific tablets by the manager of the H&B store, who said his wife had used them.
I know that there are no short cuts to weight loss - just eat less and exercise more - and I don't beleve that these will activley help me lose weight. But I was told they would help with overall health, vitality and wellbeing, and this is what I was interested in using them for.
I would drink the tea, but I hate the taste
As a carb addicted vegitarian I was also reccomended protein powder to up my intake with fewer calories. Due to being mainly unable to exercise, theres no need for a post work out protein boost.
I just want to ensure I am getting what my body needs in the best way possible.

The main reason drinking green tea helps is because of the water
the good effects of green tea are the antioxidants and those are good because of cancer risk
most of the studies I have read said people have lower cancer risk if they drink 3 cups a day
the pills are a waste of money
losing weight is about calories
and finding the balance that works for your body
I drink 3 cups of green tea a day but I kinda like it
I used to drink 6 full sugar cokes and about 8 cups of coffee
I am much calmer now0 -

Hi Emma,
I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat a lot of non-meat protein. Do you like eggs? I know a lot of people are scared of the cholesterol, but the positives outweigh the negatives in my book. Also, have you tried meatless crumbles? I just heat them up and usually add them to pasta sauce.
I've never taken green tea tablets, but back in college I took some sort of pill that had a lot of the same ingredients. I couldn't sleep, I got terrible migraines, and pretty much always felt nauseous. So yeah, I lost weight, but it wasn't worth it.
Also, I don't like the taste of green tea, either. Have you tried flavored green tea? I think someone mentioned a pomegranate one, and that sounds tasty!0 -
I have tried flavoured green tea, but I still really don't like it
So are there any real health benefits from it?
I'm confused!

There are health benefits to green tea the antioxidants in it help prevent certain cancers
most of the studies done are done on people who have drank green tea for many years
the one I read said something about 3 cups a day
do you NEED it ?
no
I did not like green tea till I found a brand that was tasty
to me starting out it tasted like someones foot but after a while I got used to it and it is not so bad now
the tablets are a waste of money0
