My calorie goal is 1700 calories. I am not looking to build muscle but rather maintain while focusing on running. I am running in order to lose weight.

If you are running to lose weight then fueling your body for running is your goal. Protein is key to building and maintaining muscle but not at the same levels for a runner as opposed to a body builder. Strength training with reasonably heavy weights (not 3#) 2-3 times a week will give you what you need to maintain your current muscle while slowly building LEAN muscle.

My goal is much like yours. I run because 1. I love it and 2. I know I can lose weight. BUT I also want a toned defined body that I can only get by lifting. Running isn't going to tone my triceps they way I would like.

I will Up my calories, I had my self down as sedentary due to the fact that I am in the office the majority of the day.
  • I have also purchased a protein powder to up my caloric intake and my protein. It has 27g of protein to 111 calories I think a couple scoops of this a day should address most of the feed back I have received?
