You went over one day by 263 calories? If you gained any weight it was water or the like. If you are at a deficit and overeat a small amount you are likely still under maintenance.

Weight fluctuates day to day (and throughout the day). Keep eating at a deficit, and look for a downward trend in your weight.

I've been here a week. Go look at my the diary if you want to see a hot mess of numbers. I think they averaged out though. This is the main reason why I only weigh once a week.
  • Pleasse don't panic! 3lb is nothing, seriously it could be due to a number of things.
    1. When you eat your glycogen stores can fill, this can weigh you down and cause an increase in weight on the scales
    2. Water weight, water retention bloating etc etc
    3. Weight of the food you have consumed
    4. Bowl movements can effect weight fluctuations

Unless you have gone way over your calories then its not real weight
    Remember 1lbs = 3500 calories

I have been well within my calories this week and am also doing a bit more exercise every day and stepped on the scales this morning to find I had gain a 1lb. I don't know whether its my scales or whether it's me but I am determined to keep on trying. even though my first reaction was to burst into tears and want to eat a large slab of cake I do know how disheartening it is to try really hard and not get a loss but there can be a number of reasons for this as other people have already mentioned. I'm thinking that I may only start weighing myself once every 2 weeks or even once a month to stop me getting obsessed with the scales.

Why would you start two threads? Were you not pleased with your answers?

You are eating a high diet and a ton of protein but not logging *any* exercise, so it is impossible to know what the issue is. It looks to me that it's likely water retention.

Assuming that you're "getting shredded" and therefore spending a significant amount of time lifting. Lifting will cause water retention on rest days as your body does this naturally during the repair process.

If you're not actually working out, you don't need 250+ units of protein.

That absolutely is water retention weight! (might want to check the sodium level)

Watch your sodium intake for a few days and drink plenty of water, and even try some warm water (or hot tea) it honestly helps wash it out.

There is no way those few calories made you gain any weight!
