Do you track macros?

I've just starting learning about this. I've spent years just tracking my calories and I think I will start tracking my macros.

I track my macros (and everything else.. I think I'm neurotic :) but hitting my protein and calories on a regular basis are all I really care about. I'm trying to gain weight (muscle), so those two things are the most important for me at the moment.

    Yes
  • I think its very important that you track macros. Just make sure you are on a healthy split between your p/c/f depending on your goal. Be careful though as tracking them can take up a lot more time than you may think to get them exactly accurate every day

I personally try to split my calories left over after protein evenly between carbs and fat, because I find if I don't I am more likely to get cravings and go over calories.

Not yet I don't. Right now I'm mainly focusing on a calorie deficit, and a cardio workout. Once comfortable with that, I plan to expand my knowledge on nutrition as a whole. Small steps is what I am thinking. I do not want to feel overwhelmed with this new lifestyle. I have learned a ton here at MFP thus far. So glad I was led to it!

I'm in maintenance and I don't have a problem hitting carbs/fat, so I focus on protein, fibre and eating within a range of calories (1600-2000).

Yes, but I just try not to obsess over them. My daily goal is to definitely hit my protein macro and get as close as possible to the other ones. I am significantly under on carbs 95% of the time, but I am fine with that. It was difficult at first, but now hitting the macros is pretty much second nature to me.

No - I just try to limit my carbs (usually eat them, via vegetables).

Yes, I think its important to watch fat, get good carbs, and plenty of protein mixed in with plenty of fibre

    Hell yeah!!
  • If you are on a slow bulk I would say yes.

If you are losing weight, I would suggest go for meat and veges most meals and you'll do just fine.

Obviously if you eat your caloric goal each day but it is on donuts, then that's no good =)
