Anyone feel overtrained from 2nd half of insanity?

In the 7th week of it and feeling overtrained. I am slowing the moves down a bit now. Still in a pool of sweat by the end yet just slightly less of a pool of sweat. The workouts are longer and harder so trying to do better at pacing myself. Also doing some physical therapy type calisthenics and elastic band workout to supplement for balance and previous injury recuperation. Overall doing well just tried to keep up with video to much and now feeling overtrained. Yesterday slowed it down a bit and felt better. Any opinions?

I am not doing insanity, but Jillian Michaels' body revolution and feel the same way. I am in week 7 (of 12) and the workouts have got much harder, the technique a lot tougher. I am having to think about my form more, to make sure I don't rush it and end up with an injury. I was suprised by this, as my fitness has increased a lot, but that is the nature of the beast. Just as i start to cope with a level it gets harder.

i decided it was not a competition, it was my workout to do with what I needed.

I wasn't a fan of Insanity myself mostly due to that. My body was definitely worn down after a full round of it. I think it is fine to use mixed in with other things but 6x a week of that sort of impact and intensity was not my thing.

I feel the same. I will finish Insanity on Friday and to be honest I can't wait!!! I have really enjoyed it and it has really pushed me on with my strength and fitness but I am absolutely exhausted. My right shoulder is sore as are my knees, feet and left hip. I can't wait to get back to the gym doing strength and cardio with REST DAYS!!!! Lol. It is a great programme and I'm glad I did it but roll on Friday!!!

in most cases (though not all), overtraining is actually undereating. So if you're feeling overtrained, especially by cardio, then it's a good idea to review your calorie intake and whether you'd do better with a slightly higher calorie goal

lifting heavy weights is different... it is much easier to over-train, and you shouldn't be doing the same muscle group on two consecutive days. If either the insanity workout (sorry not familiar with that specific workout) or the physiotherapy workouts include doing reps of strenuous exercise to failure or near failure, then this could be overtraining and you need to insert more rest days between them.

I didn't feel overtrained as such but suffering now from high hamsring tendonopathy which is 100% down to Insanity. Penultimate fit test and really pushed it but noticed from then on my hams were tight and stretching more difficult. By its (and my) nature the motivation was to finish so pushed through the final 2 weeks whilst probably getting a bit more tight and sore. Currently 3 weeks post Insanity and some physio and rest is helping. I'd say listen to your body and push as hard as you can without risking injury and compromising form - easy said and not easy done so good luck!

Switch kicks will probably be modified/replaced with jacks or something when I'm healed enough to do my planned 3-4 sessions a week.

Are you eating enough? How about your carbs...you may want to increase them a little.

Have u done insanity or p90x. I did p90x before yet it was very muscle gain focused and I was gaining muscle and had very little cardio. The kickboxing type of cardio it had made my knees hurt every time. I tried modifying form but somehow it just hurt. I was less fit then though.

This time around my focus is pure weight loss and injury prevention. I want to be consistent in the process. I also think for me the cardiovascular training is good for my heart.
Tell me about your experience with p90x. What pluses and minuses did u find.

Just keep doing it. You may need to adjust the intensity but moving is still good...my biggest tip..take all the measurement gadgets, trackers and other "stuff" and put it in a drawer..enjoy the ride
