All the people I know that have had surgery to lose weight have gained it back. After the surgery they tell you you can't eat a lot or certain things. What's the point if you do that anyway you'll lose weight. Just like diet pills that say they work when combined with exercise and diet. No matter what you do to your stomach it is a growing organ and will expand to hold more food if you continue to stuff it, so even though you lose weight in the beginning once your stomach expands you will gain it back if you don't make lifestyle changes. Better to change your lifestyle and skip the surgery. Your on the right site for that, look at all the success stories on here. Take a few minutes to log on each day to take care of yourself, not just for you but your family and friends. Good Luck
  • Best wishes on the surgery! I'd be excited too. That day will be the beginning of your new healthier life.
  • Thanx for your concern but I'm pretty sure I am making the right decision I'll keep u posted on my journey. And yes I've doubted it sometimes. But with my health issues I'm sure it's my right decision. Thanx again for the heads up

You won't find many supportive to WLS in the main forums. It is the "easy way out." Search for WLS or sleeve groups and join them for TONS of information and support. People don't know that we don't come to the decision lightly. It took me 5 years to decide and I was working out and eating healthy all of that time. We can all lose weight. Just like we all have the ability to learn, we just do it a different way. We can both travel to a destination, I can guarantee that we won't use the same directions. Good Luck!!

Congratulations on your surgery date! I was sleeved 4/4/12 & it was the best decision I ever made. You will hear a lot against WLS here but you know what is right for you.
  • Good luck with your goals!

Yeah, definitely a lot of people on the main forum here think it's the "easy way out." Hah. I second LadyG's advice: look for WLS or Sleeve groups off the main forum. And best of luck!

Best of luck with your operation and subsequent success! Whether I am pro or anti this kind of operation this does not matter - What matters is that you believe that this is right for you. I do not know much about the process but have heard that it is an aid towards weight loss and still takes lifestyle commitments to be successful (eg. Drinking calories can be a problem).
