Eating More

So my body's just about had it with eating 1500-1800 calories a day (more or less depending on exercise) so I changed my plan from 2lbs a week lost to just 1lb. It's added another 500 calories allowed to my daily limit but I worry that I will gain rather than continue to lose at a slower pace. Plus everyone has told me I don't eat enough. Maybe someone can look at my diary?

  • If you were losing 2 pounds a week doing 1500-1800 you will not gain weight bumping up 500 calories.

As a young (presumably, by your profile picture) man who is active, you should absolutely be able to get away with more calories and I would recommend doing so to avoid burnout or binge-eating.

Bump it up 3-500 calories, see if the scale budges. Give it a week or so to level out, as you may get a bit of bloat from the added intake.

I thinks its great that you upped your calories.
Your diet looks pretty good but make sure you're drinking lots of water as you have a lot of salty items. Pepperoni is not the best meat you can choose. Perhaps add eggs, nuts and more better quality meats to your diet and more fruits and veggies in place of the bars you eat. Do you like avocado? Great for filling you up and adding healthy fat.
How bout some peanut butter? Also, have you tried whole grain breads?

You will probably not have any problems upping your calorie limit. Your weight may stall for a week or two, but this is a transitional period while your body gets used to eating more, depending on how long you've been eating at the level you do. If it hasn't been all that long, then you won't have any problems at all. If you're really that concerned you can try cycling your calories for a week or two before going to your new level (i.e. on day 1 eat your new level, day 2 your old level, repeat for a few days then stay at the new level).

Looking at your diary, I'm seeing you often don't meet your fat goal (only met 2 of the last 7 days) which actually gives you a really good place to start when you up your calories: add fat. Add butter. Go full-fat in dairy products. Add nut butters and avocado. You won't feel like you're eating an extra 500 calories, but your body will thank you!
