Hi! I'm new to this! I'm 22, 15 stone 11, and 5 foot 9. I'm on a 1000 calorie diet and I have just started week 2 of insanity with Shaun t... I'm still surprised week 1 didn't kill me! I'm training because I want to join the airforce, as you can see by my height and weight I'm out of shape, and to get in I need to run 1.5 miles in 13 minutes, but right now I can barely run for two minutes. I'm hoping the diet and insanity will get me into shape and build endurance so I can start training to run better with a head start! I could do with motivation, maybe some of you guys are doing similar things? I'm new to the whole health thing so any diet tips, running tips would be welcome! Also, as a beginner to getting fit, do you think it's a good idea I go running and do insanity or should I wait till I finish insanity before going out running? Do you guys think insanity will help my running? Thanks!

Why are you on a 1,000 calorie diet? How did you make that decision and come up with that number?0

Hi there! I think it is amazing you're looking into joining the Air Force.
As for running, I personally think you should ease into it. Have you ever heard of the "Couch to 5k" workout? I've heard it works wonders, usually easing yourself into running will help you even become a fan of running. I wouldn't recommend throwing yourself into it though... From experience, I threw myself into a 10k, half-marathon (twice), and a 5k without much training. I did so thinking it would help motivate me, but it did more damage than good on my behalf.
Good luck to you!0 -
I got through week 5 in Alpha and to be honest, even though it didn't kill me, it felt like it! I'm trying to get the gumption up to give it another go for all 10 weeks, but working out in a detached garage in 20 degree weather just isn't fun. So I'm sticking with Zumba until, hopefully, mid-March. And as soon as it hits at least 45 and no d@mn snow, I want to start jogging again. Feel free to add me!0

Increase your calories by 1000.. if not more. Good luck on your journey!0

Thanks for the responses guys! Some great advice! I have heard of the couch to 5k thing maybe il do that too! There must be an app or something! Kwest I know how u feel it's been pretty cold over here so I've been holding back from the jogging a little till it warms up! Samrocks a friend of mine said doing a 1000 calorie diet worked wonders for her so I thought I'd give it a go, I lost 5lbs in 1 week, though the process may be slowing a little now, but I do feel good! Do you guys think I should be eating more? I'm not hungry or anything I feel good it seems to be working but I've heard stories that if you don't eat enough your body stores fat? I have no knowledge on any of this stuff lol! Let me know what u think!0

I would suggest increasing to at least 1500 calories so your body doesn't go into starvation mode and start causing you to retain fat. With the exercise you do I think you could even afford a few hundred more on top of that! But the C25k does wonders0
