ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN
Eat right, eat well, and exercise for a nice balance0 -
Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. It's what you DON'T eat, rather than what you DO exercise.0

It wasn't as much about exercising as about nutrition. You have to lose enough weight for your abs to be visible - otherwise, you can train abs all day and you'll never see them!0

Eating at a deficit, some cardio, lifting, and little to no isolated ab exercises.0

I noticed the birth of what I call "The Abbey's" last year.
Those are all about low body fat - abs built in the kitchen.0 -
You can do all the ab work you want. If your body fat isn't low enough you won't see your abs. You need to eat in a caloric deficit and work out your whole body. The deficit doesn't have to be or shouldn't be to large. I suggest all the main compound lifts with a few isolation lifts but they aren't needed. Ab work on one or two days. As far as how long depends on how much body fat you have. You can't spot reduce fat meaning you can't just get rid of it where you want it to come off. Just let if fall off where it does. Eventually the abs will show if you are lucky. Some folks won't ever have visible abs. You might get a flat strong core or stomach but never have the washboard ab look. Hope this helps.0

Essentially get a low enough BF%, you already have abs, there is just fat over them, remove the fat and voila, abs.0 -

I still play quite a few sports, so the exercise is more for performance than aesthetics.0
