So I'm down ten pounds (yay!) But the last two days....I've been feeling super sad about some stuff...i haven't even gone to the gym for the past 4 days and I usually go everyday..and then...I kind of binged .Granted its for the first time since I started a calorie restricted diet, but still, now I'm feeling totally guilty. Will this totally kill my progress?

You'd have to eat approximately 3500 calories more than you burn a day to gain a pound. That's a pretty decent amount of food to consume (along with the calories you DO burn).0

It wont kill your progress, you cant let yourself believe that all the good you did will be ruined by a couple days. Keep moving forward, even with a couple bad days here and there you are still farther along than your were when you started.0

Only if you let it. But I personally would look at my daily target calorie goals to make sure they're appropriate. Having your average intake be too low can lead to all kinds of emotional, mood, energy issues. Also, I recommend not getting on the scale for a week. Since sometimes when you binge (and I'm not too sure what you mean by "binge") you eat a lot of salt/processed foods, which can make you retain extra water for a few days.

sorry I totally typed this in a hurry! my average intake is about 1500 calories a day . since I've been slacking off going to the gym, i've been eating a little less. (hey i live in MT and we just got two feet of snow so i don't wanna drive anywhere okay!)0

Unless your binge was thousands upon thousands of Calories, no.
Here's my pre-written spiel regarding binges/cheats...
A lb of fat equates to approximately 3500 Calories. To lose 1 lb of fat in one week, we need a 500 Calorie per day deficit (7 x 500 = 3500).
If you eat @ that 500 Calorie deficit for 6 days, you are at a weekly deficit of 3000 Calories.
If you "cheat" and end up eating maintenance Calories (no deficit, but not @ surplus) for one day, you keep that 3000 Calorie weekly deficit. This means you can expect to lose 0.86 lbs that week.
If you "cheat" and end up eating a 500 Calorie surplus for one day, you now have a 2500 Calorie weekly deficit. This means you can expect to lose 0.71 lbs that week.
In both cases, you'll likely lose more than 1/2 lb of fat that week. Not bad, right? Maybe not as much as you hoped, but it's progress in the right direction. And that’s what’s really important.0 -

I've done this so many times. But then I get back to the gym or get active and that seems to help mentally which is 90% of the battle for me! I've also been slacking with the gym due too weather...we've gotten more than twice the amount of snow so far this year and expecting more soon. Just try to focus more on your diet at this time and we'll BOTH get back to it once the weather clears up a bit! :drinker:0

no it will not and you will go crazy trying to keep yourself perfect all the time. You can either forget about yesterday and start sticking to your plan again today, or decide to eat a little bit less over the next few days to compensate, if it's going to make you feel better. One binge doesn't hinder your weightloss just like one day of salad doesn't make fat people skinny. You will be fine and if/when it happens again, you will shrug it off again, as long as it doesn't become a habit0 -
I have a cheat day every week and eat whatever I feel like and I still lose weight. My motheri-in -law passed away two weeks ago. I had to go out of town for five days for it. So that meant five days in a row eating at restaurants and other family members homes three times a day plus snacks and zero exercise (i normally work out 5-6 days a week). I gained exactly one pound and lost it last week plus some. And that was with zero exercise again because I was so far behind on stuff at home from being away for five days. Don't freak....you will be fine. And we all have to learn to live withi these curve balls that life throws us. Each day...each meal actually...is a brand new start for us.0
