21 Day Fix

Ever seen or heard of it... anyone doing it?

The program is supposed to help you realize and maintain portion control by supplying these color coded tupperware-like boxes (one for veggies, one for proteins, etc) that is used in conjunction with a different workout everyday + shakeology.

Everything seems pretty awesome except the size of the containers... pretty small! ;)

Anyway... what does everyone think about it?

I think shakeology is trying to recruit more people for their mlm.

I'm doing it now and I'm loving it. Finally helping me get my food dialed in better.

There will always be Shakeology haters here.
Heck you could say Green Peppers are the best thing on earth and have haters.

I'm realizing how much extra snacking - bite here, bite there I was doing and I was apparently not logging right here because my calorie count was showing very similar, but I'm down 3 pounds in a week. aka 3% body weight.

I can PM anyone that would like to know more, to avoid any negativity (and this statement will bring it)

Oh wait... I Love weights... (someone will hate that) I love Running .... someone will tell me thats wrong... I love Zumba... I shouldn't pay for anything...... LOL Yes, my sarcasm is out today because I've seen way too much negative the last couple days.

Everyone here just wants help, and works for one won't work for the next because its not 'their' personality fit.

This IS MY personality fit.... so yup.... I'm enjoying it.

My friend is a BB coach and is doing this program, obviously because she sells the stuff, and because she wanted to try something to break a plateau. Less than a week in, and she's already said that this program is nice for teaching people about portion sizes and the workouts are a nice change, but it's not sustainable in any way. It's just not realistic in terms of the amount of food and types of food in the plan for how the average person eats. She said "wow, I get to have chocolate covered raisins in a teeny tiny container a whopping 3 times a week." There's no realistic way to use the plan to measure food you would get in a restaurant or at a party. It's probably a great program when you have a diet plan laid out for you to use, but the transfer into real life makes it pretty worthless imo.

You can learn portion sizes just as easily by weighing your food, and lose weight by tracking calories and macros. Plus you can eat whatever fits into your lifestyle. Right now her weight loss results are right on track with mine, it will be interesting to see if she is able to maintain the loss at the end of the program or if she gains when she goes back to eating her normal food choices.

I am using the program and I'm in my second week. I have actually found that I am eating more than I use to and losing weight because it makes you aware of better choices, encourages whole foods and makes you mindful of portion sizes. The containers are intimidating at first but when you set out your daily amounts, there is plenty of food to enjoy.

The workouts are challenging, but not so hard that I can not get through them. I am enjoying the program and having success. This is a lifestyle program because as you become aware of the portion sizes you can go to a restaurant and split your plate when you get served, or order smaller servings to begin with.

    Hope this helps.

    P.S. not a beachbody coach :)

I have taken my containers to a restaurant, once. To get an idea on portion control. It helped. I'm learning to eyeball a lot better. I could have, Should have, weighed food over the last 3 years, but I haven't. We all find our thing that 'clicks' for us to move to the next step.

I think it is a great beginner's program. I wasn't interested in the program because I'm not a beginner and I have been doing this for 3 years. But I decided to become a coach, so I wanted to try it so I had personal experience with it. The first week was rough for me, I went with the calculations it gave me for calories, and it was way too low for me. I.was.starving. But I'm also doing my regular gym routine along with the dvd's, so I was not eating nearly enough. I went up to the higher calorie range and I'm doing ok now. But its still frustrating for someone who already has a routine as far as snacks and stuff like that. I like to grab a serving of almonds and a string cheese for a snack, and have some avocado on my salad for lunch. Well on the plan, all three of those would be blue containers, and you only get one blue a day. So, I have had to give up some of my loved items. But again, if you are eating whatever and you don't have a plan, or you don't know how or don't want to learn to measure and count calories, this is a good way to transition into it. It will help you figure out how many servings of things to have per day, and about the size of a serving of most items. It at least gets you thinking and noticing. I figure its only 3 weeks, I can live with one "blue" food per day for 3 weeks. lol Then I'm going back to my normal ::nomnom:: routine. :-)

It's a good program for teaching about exercise and portion control. I've heard a ton of people say that the containers look small, but when you fill them with the type of foods that are in the meal plan, it's actually quite a bit of food (more than you'd think). The workouts are tough, and you don't have to drink Shakeology to get great results.
