Am I the only SALT addict?

Options
I always see threads about being addicted to sugar, craving sugary foods, etc. Am I the only one whose downfall is salty/savory foods, not sweet ones? Of course if someone puts a nice dessert in front of me, I'll want to eat it, but otherwise, I get a craving for sweets maybe once every two months. But chips, fries, salty carby snacks...OMG my weaknesses.

I go through phases of salty cravings too. You're not the only one!

I am in the same boat. I was with my family for five days and never once wanted a share of the deserts they ate, but if someone eats chips or jerky (or even fried things) in front of me then I droooooooooooool.

Put a slice of chocolate cake in front of me and some hot, salty french fries.... I will always go for the fries!!! ALWAYS!!! Well... unless I can have both.

I love salt, but not "addicted". I miss it in my diet.

I love salt and salty foods.

Quite honestly even though my salt intake is high (don't look at my diary, the salt I add to my foods isn't in there) my blood pressure runs low average (105/60) and I've never had a problem losing weight. Even if I do have an extra-high sodium meal (hello chinese buffet) my weight bounces up slightly and then settles into its regular pattern.

I always crave salty foods and carbs. French fries, pizza, potato chips, anything. Especially when I'm on my period.

Don't get me wrong, I'll eat sweet things. But I'd rather have chips than cookies any day.

Salt and fat are my two favorite food groups! I'm trying to use other spices to trick my taste buds into forgetting about salt. So far it's not working that well, but people tell me that if you cut back on salt you stop craving it. We'll see.

Before I started watching what I ate, I loved chips! I mean I still do, but I've learned to control my portions. After eating too much salt, I get hives and bloating, which is just uncomfortable. Some days I crave sugar, other days salt lol. You're definitely not the only one.

Same here. I feel like sometimes, like in that Simpsons episode where Homer sits on the sofa with a bag of flour when his sugar bag is empty, that I could just sit on the couch with a bag of salt. Yes, really. lol

I'm a saltaholic. Always have been. I can pass on the dessert table at holidays, but the olive and pickle tray? Veggie dips? Cheese platters? Hot wing dip? I hover over those.

    Not at all.

The day after eating pho for lunch, I start craving more pho like a madman. MSG is like that.

Me too, a chocolate bar sitting waiting to be eaten, I can just pass on by, a bowl of just salted chips or popcorn well I wouldn't be able to walk by them.

Also on food, I was once pulled up a colleague when eating in a restaurant, the plate of food had just been put down, I hadn't even tasted it, yet there I was pouring salt all over the food, how did I know it needed salt they asked, well I didn't I just wanted to make sure I had my fix!

    Yep definitely my biggest downfall

Chips were the only thing I had to cut out of my diet completely when I first started counting calories. I can eat them in moderation now, but it took awhile to get there.
