Hi all, just joined fitness pal and am getting a feel for what it's about, I have tried lots of diets and despite good losses I keep putting weight back on, obviously I need to make some big changes and I have been doing the 30 day shred DVD for a bit of quick exercise for the last 2 days and I was going to do the Camebridge diet for this week and a bit of a boost (and use up the shakes I already have!) what do people think about this? After all the yoyo diets I have never tried calorie counting before so that should be interesting too! Thanks

i never heard of the Camebridge diet.
my philosophy is (and everyone's is different) is A)do the "diet" that works for you and B)do the "diet" that you can visualize doing for life. i also believe in doing the "diet" that is resilient and not restrictive. so for me MFP and "calorie counting" if you will is the best long term method that works for me. with that said i do try to eat healthy, whole foods and occasional treats. no rocket science.
also understanding what my weight is all about is a big factor for me as well and a critical key in not only losing the weight but keeping it off
good luck!0 -
Thanks, Camebridge is a milkshake/soup meal replacement based diet, you have 3 soups/shakes a day around 140cals each and then prepare 1 meal made with 1portion protein and 80g of 1veg total around 300cal, I suppose when you put it like that why not start as you mean to go on, if its unrealistic to do for life then it's a non starter, thank you for commenting, ill start getting some recipie ideas and see how I go with logging calorie intake ????0

I have been doing the MFP diet for 95 weeks.
Calorie deficit, weigh/measure/log everything, exercise you enjoy so you will do it, patience.
That's it. Sounds simple, but it's not. Anytime you work on changing bad habits and replacing them with good ones - it's hard work.
It also pays off BIG time when you don't quit.0 -
I'm on the Cambridge diet and recommend it wholeheartedly
I lost a stone in 2 weeks, and I've never felt healthier or more motivated either.
It's the way they educate you about what you should and shouldn't be eating and the maintaining support once you've reached your target weight is so good.
I've got 1.5 stone to lose and then I'm done x0 -

I'm confused. If you are doing soup/milkshakes 3x a day and only one meal - how do you learn how to eat correctly - portion size, calorie content, etc.? Plus that's an extremely low number of calories for a day. 140 for the shakes (420 cals) plus one meal (300 cals). That's around 700 calories a day. How is that healthy for an adult?0 -
Thank you for your feed back ????0
