Hip Abductors. It is so creepy when the ladies stare at my junk. :grumble:
How the hell d'you think women feel when they perform this exercise?
Violated.0 -
I won't do yoga around other people. It feels like I'm trying to put myself into the most uncomfortable positions possible and I can't imagine it looks any better. I imagine the eye candy in yoga classes is unreal though.0

My problem is my *kitten* trumpet playing during certain exercises.
Clenching? Tighten the booty at the same time.  :laugh:0 -

Free weights and sit-ups. For some reason, I am TERRIFIED that one of the heavy lifters (we have several pro body builders at the gym) will correct my form. And, believe me, my form is already a mess!!
I can't do sit-ups appropriately because I had to have some ab work done a few years ago, so I only do them when alone.0 -

Oh great. I never thought about this; yet ANOTHER exercise I can only do when I'm alone! :laugh:0 -

I work out at home, so if I want to bust a move between sets, than I bust a move. Still burning calories. Not so sure I could be so uninhibited if I were at a gym.
Me too! The only person that stares is my 3 year old and I really don't think she cares what I do.0 -
At my company's gym, we wear uniforms that include ill-fitting basketball shorts that ride waaaay up my butt when doing squats, so I won't do them unless I'm backed up to a wall lol.
but when I'm at any other gym in regular shorts, I don't care0 -
There is only one inappropriate exercise that I wouldn't do at the gym.
burpees?
Oops forgot to use my quotation marks on exercise.
I still don't get it. Draw me a picture, please. Or - better yet - post a video.

The standing version of this Glutes machine at the gym always seems very inappropriate.

I will do whatever. It doesn't matter. I'm all about the gainz!!!! My wife has the same issue as you. Not students but just people looking in general. She looks pretty great. I tell her all the time, people are going to look. They are either mirin, creepers, or maybe learning. It doesn't matter what they are thinking. Their thoughts are non of your business. keep grinding and try and forget about them.
All aboard the gain train!0 -
I do all my hip thrusts and glute bridges exclusively in areas where I'm absolutely sure every single person will be able to see me humping the air. If the gym is empty I don't do them at all.0

*kitten*!!!!! There have been a couple guys straight caught and kicked out of one of the gyms I go to. What the hell! Save those training sessions for when you get home. Lol0 -
I def understand why you wouldn't want to do certain workouts in the schools gym that you find aren't appropriate, but while in a public gym that you pay for, different story. Do your workout... Butt in the air, hip thrusts. If they see you and ask questions or start saying strange things, then it is time for their parents to discuss with them how to be more mature.0

High school English teacher checking in:
I don't feel awkward or inappropriate at all when I 'work in" and use the same barbell the kids are using to squat...
and curl with it.0 -
I am not embarrassed in the fitness room...I am quite the opposite as I am never ashamed to be working hard...I just think twice about sticking my rump in air in front of 14-18 year old boys if I can target the same muscle group in a less stick my butt up kind of way.
I teach science and all my students know I work out and am intense about it. They know that when teaching an anatomy lesson that I can specify certain things as they have seen me do a lot of the exercises in question...I was laughing thinking about the abductor/adductor inner thigh machine and thought that would be an exercise I WOULD NOT do in front of high school boys.0 -
