Expensive NSV

I was in a wedding last year, so I bought a new suit for the rehearsal dinner. Needed one anyway.
Since then, I haven't had an occasion where I've needed the suit, and I've lost 22 pounds. I decided to wear it on my business trip to the home office today. I was swimming in the pants, and almost felt like Josh Baskin in my jacket. Only wore the thing once. My niece is getting married in June, and I'll have to buy a new suit again!
Other pants have gone from snug to loose, but nothing is close to the suit difference. Probably because it was bought when I was at my high, and the rest bought somewhere below that point.

I'm sorry?
Grats on the loss thoughMaybe don't go very expensive for the next one if you are planning on losing more? On the upside, you could probably get a good consignment price on a suit you've only worn once, should give back a little of the expensive part.

congrats on the loss!!
try your local dry cleaners which probably has a seamstress they can do wonders to tailer your clothes especially if they were expensive. and its not that expensive to tailer youd b surprised and worth saving a nice expensive suit for another use.
now if you lost 100 pounds probably couldnt tailor but 2 sizes down or so i bet they could do it0 -

Congrats on your loss. But I'm more impressed with the "Josh Baskin" reference. :happy:0 -
Quit your complaining and smile! You're thinner! You can always donate the suit to someone on here who is currently that size, heck, they may even buy it.    :bigsmile:0

That was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek complaint, in celebration of an NSV.
I don't think it'll be worth the hassle of getting altered, as my goal is to to lose 30 to 40 more. I'll probably donate it for the tax write-off this year.
Thanks, all.0 -

Good job on losing what you have.Yes suits are expensive but it feels good when they are to big instead of the other way around.0

Congrats!!! That is awesome even if it is expensive. AND way better than if you had to get a bigger one...0

OH! I totally can relate to your "problem". I wear a suit every day to work. This past summer I bought 5 suits. One of them had problems so I was able to return it leaving me with 4 brand new suits. In October I finally decided to get serious about losing weight. Last week I took my suits to the tailor to take them in. She told me there's nothing she can do. I should just buy new ones. I don't want to spend money now since I'm still losing. I was desperate so I went back to the shop to get a new pair of pants. I was pleased to find out I lost 10 inches on my waist!
So now I'm stuck with one old suit and one new pair of pants. I practically need a whole new wardrobe. One of the suits I bought in the summer was never even tailored. Sitting in my closet brand new.0 -
Nice "Big" reference.0

Congrats! I am sharing your pocketbook pain.I bagged up 5 bags of clothes that no longer fit! I hate to spend a lot while I'm continuing to lose, but I must have something to wear. LOL I had to buy pants for work and am making due with tucking in or belting shirts for the moment.
Zero of my capris or shorts fit. Shouldn't be a problem yet but we're going to FL on vacation in 5 weeks. Yep, I'm going shopping tomorrow. :happy:0
