Enough protein without powders?

I am having trouble hitting my protein macro without using the protein powders. I'll use them if I have to but I would rather stick with real food.

My food diary is open and input is welcome. I am hoping to get ideas on snacks or things I can add to my meals that will help up that macro.

Eat more chicken and tuna :) You can sneak some into every meal, and since it has a pretty low calorie density, it's not going to make your meals smaller.

Instead of rice, try some beans! I'm currently loving beans :) I've bought a ton of dried black beans, and after that I might try lima and soy.

Also, small changes, like paramasan cheese instead of cheddar can help too.

Cottage cheese is also excellent! And skyr, if you can get it where you are. I use both for both breakfast and sweet stuff, as well as dinner, dressings etc. It's excellent.
  • Odd as they look, try lentils. You know those things you saw in my pantry in the jar. Easy to cook and I make mine with my chicken broth, adding in carrots, zuc and onion so it's a good side to about any meat and nice to have over rice or quinoa (Which has protein in it by the way). Again with the cottage cheese and as well, ricotta, I know you don't like it on it's own but it can be cooked into things, say another cheese sauce and it will bump up the protein without adding too much fat if you stick to the skim version. Oh and Edamame, found in the freezer section of WalMart I add those to my salad, just defrost some and add them in and they are soy beans so packed with protein. And you know me, I am always over on the protein it's the rest I fall short on.
