I already drink a gallon of water per day, but never count my coffee consumption as part of the water intake. So, I'm already peeing a "lot".

Nope. you put stuff into the water. Drink a gallon of coffee and a gallon of plain water, daily.

Oh yeah well I drank a gallon of beer today....beat that!
  • I'd say go for it. Caffeine in the coffee might dehydrate you though causing you to drink even more water.

How does this answer my question?

    Quote from snopes link:
Additionally, the idea that one must specifically drink water because the diuretic effects of caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea, and soda actually produce a net loss of fluid is erroneous:
Regular coffee and tea drinkers become accustomed to caffeine and lose little, if any, fluid. In a study published in the October issue of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, researchers at the Center for Human Nutrition in Omaha measured how different combinations of water, coffee and caffeinated sodas affected the hydration status of 18 healthy adults who drink caffeinated beverages routinely.

"We found no significant differences at all," says nutritionist Ann Grandjean, the study's lead author. "The purpose of the study was to find out if caffeine is dehydrating in healthy people who are drinking normal amounts of it. It is not."

The same goes for tea, juice, milk and caffeinated sodas: One glass provides about the same amount of hydrating fluid as a glass of water. The only common drinks that produce a net loss of fluids are those containing alcohol — and usually it takes more than one of those to cause noticeable dehydration, doctors say.

I think you're stomach is gonna hurt. But as long as you're not using sugar and cream to add calories, I don't see why that can't count for water intake. It's just coffee flavored water! :)

Caffeinated beverages hydrate the same as water.

I think that reaching your water quota for the day will be the least of your worries if you drink that much coffee.

I cannot live without cream and sugar. There would be no reason to live.

But the refined sugar! (This is where I clutch my pearls.)

Unless you drink it black, which makes you the baddest of *sses in my book because I just can't do it. Maybe I'm terrible at making coffee, but it turns out pretty much like what I'd imagine liquified burnt arseholes taste like.

QFT...although I have found vanilla protein powder to add deliciousness as well..I'm not sure if my problem is adding the protein powder to my coffee..or coffee to my protein powder...

I cant imagine your pee smelling too great, but this is coming from a girl who plans to eat asparagus every night for dinner for a while. But, I did just find out coffee has a bunch of potassium...so I say sure, why not

Your body is capable of absorbing water from beverages other than water. Therefore, yes it counts. Think about all the people out there that NEVER drink plain water... they are not dying of dehydration. Don't get me wrong, do I think it's the best thing for you to drink that much coffee... probably not, but you will still get the water out of it.

Sorry but I don't normally heed ".com" medical advice. I'd rather hear it from the MFP experts. Plus, TL:DR.

You don't heed ".com" advice, but you'd take the advice from "myfitnesspal.com." Is the irony there intended, or. . . .?
