If you can handle the weight increase/fluctuations during your period, then weigh yourself. If not, wait a few days.

As for eating, eat as you would any other day.... eat your calorie goal.

    This.

I weigh myself every day just to see how my body reacts to a variety of factors. Weight loss isn't linear, so you have to be prepared to see fluctuations at any time during the month.

And as far as food goes, eat what you like and hit your calorie goal. If you're feeling hungrier than usual or craving things that are calorie dense, you can always eat at maintenance for a couple of days and resume your calorie goal when you feel more normal.

I just do everything the same. I eat the same, weigh myself the same, workout the same-everything. I do end up drinking more water and craving a lot of wavy Lays. All told, I gain 10 lbs regularly in water weight the few days before my TOM and the week of, then it slowly goes down and suddenly, I've not only shed the water weight, but have lost 3 or 4 more pounds. I've done this like clockwork since I started working out and weighing myself.

I just consider that week my layaway weight loss week.

My weight loss totally pauses around then so I try not to weigh myself and get discouraged... However an upside is that I seem to feel less pain at this time of the month so my workouts are KILLER!
  • I try to be consistent no matter what. That way I can see the different patterns with my weight and eating and know what to expect.

My weight goes up 2-4 pounds during that week so if seeing that won't discourage you then go ahead and weigh yourself. Just know that it will go back down in a few days.

If I can manage to not up calories during that time (when I'm more hungry/craving) then I lose more weight during TOM than the other week of the month, so that is the one bright side to that week at least.
