Vegan

Anybody have any tips on High protein vegan foods? I half way through a week long vegan cleanse, and I'm struggling filling up my belly. I'm hungry all the time now.

Interesting! I gotta try this :)

To the OP: You probably need more carbs. Carbs keep you full and give you energy. In any case, rice and beans are delicious and high-protein and carb :)
  • Only weeks that I am vegan is when I've made a loaf of seitan on the weekend.

    Vegan cleanse?
  • Why are you on a 'vegan' cleanse? What are you hoping it will do for you, exactly?
Anyway, as a vegan, for protein I eat red kidney beans, (actually beans of all sorts), lots of broccoli, tempeh, meat substitues, soy protein shakes with almond milk.

I been a vegan/raw for 2 years now and I recommend the following:

    beans (highly recommend sprouted)
    brown rice
    tofu (highly recommend sprouted)
    Ezekiel bread
    kale
    avocado

you can try using vegan protein powders, I highly recommend: http://www.sunwarrior.com/store/ or http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products-for-Life/Foundational-Nutrition/RAW-Protein.aspx

Also, what the hell is a "vegan cleanse?"

Peas are decent. I'm an omnivore and still eat peas sometimes for the protein kick. You can also supplement with pea protein powder on days you miss the mark.

There is no good reason to do a "vegan cleanse."
  • Quinoa (soup, porridge, cookies, energy bars), black beans, mushrooms, chickpeas, tempeh, tofu, hemp, sunflower (obsessed with sunflower butter)...

    -Hemp powder is a goodie.
-Chia seeds and quinoa for bulk. Nuts of course.
    -Tempeh.
-Loads of pulses and beans- hommus is super easy to make!
If you like olives I find a super easy snack is a tin of beans (I prefer butter beans) and a few kalamata olvies with juice of a lemon and some rosemary in the food processor. Tahini and garlic if you like...
Delicious high protein tepenade / dip type snack! I usually end up just eating with a spoon.

Also nutiritonal yeast is great for vegans! Piled full of the B group vitamins including B12. Great too on pasta instead of cheese cause it's cheesey and nutty (but better) :-)
For a spread that taste just like curried eggs blend some tofu and a spoon of mustard and nutiritonal yeast.

Another good high protein vegan meal is scrambled tofu. I fry up some garlic, mushroom and tomatoes (or whatever I fancy) add tofu and nutirional yeast, some pepper and fresh parsley if I've got it and there you have it, scrambled tofu on toast. Good with sme whistershire sauce and/or tabasco too.
