Newb here

Hi all,

I am new to the fitness pal world. My name is Amanda. I am 25 and live in NC. I am about 204lbs and only 5"3. I have PCOS and it unfortunately makes gaining weight very easy and losing it very hard. I was recently diagnosed with a non-alcoholic fatty liver and as being pre-diabetic (within 2 points of being full on type 2). I decided it was time to change my life one way or another. My boyfriend and I started the Paleo diet a little over a week ago. I know that is a controversial diet to quite a few but I have trouble with gluten and he is lactose intolerant so it felt like the best choice for us. So far, I have lost 3 lbs. Minus the carb detox, I already feel tons better than I have in the past several months. I am hoping to lose about 55lbs but would not be opposed to more.

Anything else you want to know about me, feel free to ask. I am an open book and hope to make some helpful friends here.

Welcome Amanda! I have PCOS too, so I feel your pain (quite literally some days). I don't follow the paleo diet, but I am dairy/gluten free and no land mammals, so I have a relatively limited selection myself. But I don't let it get me down, I have discovered so many new things to do with the food I do consume, I don't feel like I'm missing out at all.
Any way, good luck on your weight loss journey and friend request sent

Thanks. PCOS is so awful. I am getting my tubes tied in a little over a week and I am so nervous about it making it worse. How long have you been eating the diet you are on? I haven't been letting the limited selection get me down on Paleo. I will totally admit I miss cheese though. But I don't miss the effects it gave my poor boyfriend. I have loved learning lots of new recipes and ways of cooking. And coconut oil... oh man coconut oil is amazing. I wish I had been using it so much sooner.
