My Bed Hurts

So, over the last 3 months or so, I've been sleeping mostly on a pallet on the floor of my bedroom. No, no.. I'm not in trouble. My wife is breastfeeding our newborn (well, 3 month old), and with our smallish bed (full size), coupled with the fact that I don't want to keep them awake throughout the night (I toss and turn a lot), I decided it would be better if I slept elsewhere.

I'm not new to sleeping in places other than a bed (I've travelled a lot), so sleeping on the floor is no biggie. I find it pretty comfortable actually. Unfortunately, it does inhibit that whole night-time affection thing.

Anyway, I decided to sleep in the bed last night. Got my cuddles in :) But.. My back hurts! In fact, when I first wake up, it hurts too much to breathe deeply. It does subside after I get to moving around.. but its really uncomfortable. So.. get a new bed, right?

I've had this bed for years. No problems whatsoever. Its only after I started sleeping on the floor for a while that I get this "unable to breathe deeply" pain. Actually, I get the same kind of pain when I sleep on my couch.

I really don't mind sleeping on the floor - in fact, that would be my choice right now. But, I miss my wife at night.. Any ideas?

Flip the mattress over if you haven't done so recently.

You might find you need a firmer mattress, so u could go that route
