I can come on this site normally any given day and read a blog or post that is so relatable to me I'm almost sure I've written it. Times like these I am humbled and nearly brought to tears that people out there are like me and feel some of the same things I feel. Sometimes it's heartbreaking, sometimes its encouraging....but regardless it is so appreciated. Here are some things I've learned that I'm not alone in....what about you?

* Binge eating is WAY WAY more common than I ever imagined
* As overweight or formerly, having a TALL guard up is pretty standard
* Alot of times we are the caretakers and glue holding either our families or social circles together
* Relationships are hard...and I'm finally realizing it is not something wrong with me!

I could name about a zillion of these, but I'm just so grateful my Peeps are so open and honest about these vaulerable topics. :flowerforyou:

You are so right! We are all alike. I think that helps us support each other so much better! :-)
  • I feel the same way! This site has been so helpful in making me realize that i am not alone! We are all struggling with pretty much the same things and thats why this site is so amazing! We can support each other everyday!nThanks for your post!

It is incredibly humbling to see the similarities in all of us. Even though most of the women in my family are morbidly obese, I have spent most my life feeling like the odd ball. . . maybe because I didn't want to be that large. I'm even the odd ball in my group of friends. They are all blonde and fairly skinny. . . I am brunette and nowhere near skinny (yet!). So it is so nice to have a community I can openly share with and feel a connection to and feel accepted.
I do totally agree with the caretaker part. Every one else before me has always been my thought. I am changing that tho. I am worth it and deserve to take care of myself!!!

Quite honestly, the top reason I love this site is because no matter what I go through, or any of us for that matter, is there are so many others going through the same thing. Poeple can relate, and poeple understand!! It's like trying to talk to your skinny friends about what it's like to walk in a room and have poeple look at you and make snide comments...you can tell them til you are blue in the face, but they will never truly get it, because they have never felt that hurt before.

it takes someone who can relate to understand, someone who has never struggled with weight doesnt understand.
