Don't bother with any sort of specialty eating. Just eat normally whatever you like but watch calories.

it's a load of nonsense in my opinion.

    Your stomach is always acidic.

Your blood pH is always 7.35 to 7.45.

Special diets are only helpful.......if they actually help you! In other words, if a particular style of eating helps you get to your goals and works best for you, then do it!
Otherwise, special diets are just sooooo distracting, not really helpful, over-think-ing things, and can even really irritate the people around you.

It depends WHY you're eating. Alkaline foods tend to be non-inflammatory. For me, I have the beginnings of diabetic neuropathy. I am eating alkaline/non-inflammatory to stave that off. So far, it seems to be working. The weight loss doesn't really matter to me (though I am slowly losing); the lack of pain and lack of future pain does.

How can eating leafy greens, colorful vegetables, fruits, nuts, fish, and fowl be "nonsense"? Basically, alkaline eating is as close to nature as you can get.

You're avoiding processed foods, processed sugars, dairy (mostly), liquor, and red meat. That's healthy for almost everyone.

Here's a link to the anti-inflammatory, closely aligned with alkaline: http://www.drweil.com/drw/ecs/pyramid/press-foodpyramid.html
