lactose intolerant. what protein powder can i use?

I have never had an protein shakes and it was recommended for me to try them post workouts. I am lactose intolerant (highly reactive to milk , soft serve ice cream, yogurt/ Greek yogurt that is not fat free). I do not react to cheese, sour cream, or fat free yogurt. I usually drink lactaid skim milk and am attempting to switch to almond milk.
So what are your recommendations for post workout protein powder or snacks I can eat/drink on the way home from the gym?

My local health food store does pea protein and hemp protein powder.0

egg protein is the greatest unless you're veg, then pea protein is my next go to.

Whey Isolate has very very low amounts of lactose. Try seeing if you can buy a sample of 100% isolate whey protein. Whey is generally more cost efficient and better tasting than other forms of protein.0

Muscle Milk is lactose free, my husband is lactose intolerant and it's what I buy for him since I can get it at the grocery store. I just watch for sales.0

Bulk barn has brown rice protein powder, its a little expensive though, 18$ for 340g0

Try a vegan protein. I use Arbonne's Vegan Chocolate and Vanilla.They have 20g of cranberry and pea protein per serving. Both can be mixed with water or almond milk and taste great!0

Post protein shakes are over exaggerated. It's been an ongoing recommendation based on the habits that bodybuilder's/fitness competitors used one post workout.
If you're supplying enough protein and calories to your diet daily, you really don't need one.
If you want to use one though, there are several that don't have any lactose in them. The key is finding one that TASTES decent to you.

I'm similar with lactose (milk is evil, cheese is usually fine.) I use whey protein powder mixed with lactaid milk. I've used various brands with no problems.0

Have you considered using almond milk? I mix it with EAS soy based protein powder; the vanilla is my favorite.0

Syntrax Protein shakes are Lactose free as they use the same Whey blend for their medical Products. Otherwise yeah just switch to one not made from milk.0

I love the sunwarrior vanilla, I add a little to my chocolate bomb post workout. I don't get on with the vega products, they don't suit me at all. It's definitely a case of trying and seeing what you like. You can get individual sachets of most of them.0

I am lactose and use Soy or Veg protein when I get a shake at the gym. However, I read that chocolate milk is perfect for recovery. I drink Almond Milk, so I bought Chcolate Almond Milk and do a 1/2 and 1/2 mix with the Original unsweetened Almond Milk. Depending on what you do, this may be more than enough.

Since lactose is a carbohydrate the high % protein shakes will have very little lactose in them. The protein part is whey, the higher % stuff costs more, but you will tolerate it better.0

I would go with a Whey Isolate Protein. Fyi, you don't need a protein shake post-workout. As long as your protein needs are met by the end of the day.0
