Pls advise! Are canned baked beans fattening?

I'm thinking of eating canned baked beans(I can't cook them myself, I don't have the utensils) as I heard that beans aid weight loss. I know that canned beans contain salt and sugar, but the caloric info is clearly stated and each can contains 300 cals or so. If I take it as a meal, and I don't eat it in excess, will it sabotage my weight loss or make me even fatter?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Ugh, wrong timing. Looks like I have to repost this question at night(in my time zone) so that people have actually waken to answer.0

It won't help in weight loss.
It won't make you fat.
Stick to a calorie deficit and eat pretty much what you enjoy in reasonable quantities.
Exercise for health.

Simple answer no.
If you are eating any food within your calorie goal, you aren't going to get fatter or sabotage your weight loss. This could be beans, meat, cheese, ice cream, donuts, etc. It's eating at above your maintenance that would do that.0 -

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Sorry for seeming ignorant but I'm ,still curious, does the sugar or carb content matter in such case? for example, some quick oats ate low in cals but they contain 10+ carbs or sugar per serving. And I've read articles that state these little things could sabotage weight loss and calories are not the determining factor. I worship the calorie deficit theory too though.they're so much simpler than those complex limit of carbs and sugar!

The truth is that carb and sugar content of matter in ... the lab and for extreme cases. But in terms of general weight loss you are best served by focusing on the big item rules and not sweating the little modifiers. Focus on calories, get that 100% right. Get a variety of food for nutrients and that is really all you need to focus on.
It's like saying should I get the lighter shoelaces to run faster? (Maybe but there is so much more to take care of first)
Focus on the forest, not the leaves on the trees.0 -
Listen to Evgeni.
Apart from that, beans are really an excellent food. Non only they are a good source of vegetable protein but they also...
... help reduce cholesterol:

... help control blood sugar levels hours or even the next day after consumption:

... improve bone density:

And if you cannot cook them yourself just buy a brand without added sugar or salt, but in any case do not worry, canned beans are ok too:

No food is 'fattening' unless you go over your macros and calories.0

no, all food is good for fatloss, its the portion sizes that will make or break your success... ALL IN MODERATION... stick to your macronutrients allowance for the day and you should be fine.0 -
No. And eat half a can at a time if you are worried...0

Sometimes I've rinsed canned beans to get rid of the weird soupy liquid and perhaps some of the salt. Beyond that-- my thinking is what others have said. I try to eat a mix of foods/nutrients, and keep the calories down. My very smart husband suggested to me when I was starting to get obsessive: Work on general weight loss and fitness, and then tweak specific components.0

Beans are a great mix of carbs, protein and fibre.
Are you JUST eating beans, or are they making up part of a balanced intake?0 -
Beans, beans, are good for your heart, the more you eat, the more you...0
