So, this is embarrassing. And possibly TMI, but please help.

Not anything to be embarrassed about. I'm an RN. Please see a Dr. as soon as possible, preferably a GI specialist. In the meantime, get some probiotic supplements, and start those; they won't hurt, and they may help somewhat. You need to get an accurate diagnosis; please don't wait.

Are pill probiotics okay? I do try to eat a greek yogurt a day now since starting this thread and getting all these answers. But I feel that probably is not enough.

You should see a doctor, but until that, consider going on a diet of very simple foods. Look for one that is mostly vegetables and see how your system reacts. You might have deeper food allergies than you realize, or a different underlying condition, so if you can't see a doctor for any reason, see if a friend has a doctor friend you can ask for advice. Whatever the problem, it sounds really uncomfortable! Best of luck!

It sounds like something you need to see a doctor about.

My husband had a similar problem and wound up losing a foot of his intestine to diverticulitis. He needs a lot of fiber (try Metamucil every day) because he has trouble digesting fat (odd pancreas) and is sensitive to wheat. His sister really is glutin intolerant (celiac disease) and it runs in his family. She almost died before they figured out what was wrong at age 50.

You may have something ENTIRELY different. But I would definitely get tested for gluten intolerance (it's a blood test) and talk to a doctor to figure out what is wrong. It could be lots of things, but you want to find out early, not later. That's what doctors are for. You are obviously not digesting something properly.

Greek yogurt is excellent for digestion! A thing I use to help me with intestinal difficulty is Papaya tablets. They are available at health food stores and don't have any weird ingredients. These really help me with heartburn. I have also heard that ginger tea is good, so maybe look that up? Use fresh ginger if you can.

Too lazy to read the whole thread so my bad if this has been said, but dont start cutting out food groups before you go see your doctor it can mess with your tests.

I don't know what it could be, but some foods typically influence the digestive system more.. this is alcohol, coffee, kiwi's etc. whereas bananas and prune have the opposite effect. You could look it up at the internet. That's the only tip I have :(

You definitely need to see a doctor. I suffered from this problem before. You may have IBS or something more serious. It's not normal to have diarrhea that often. Do you suffer from anxiety? Are you stressed? Could you be gluten intolerant? There are a lot of different answers out there. I found that when I cut back on alcohol, my diarrhea seemed to have subsided.

I agree with this answer. It sounds like there is something else going on that is effecting your GI system besides just your intake. And anxiety or stress can increase bowel movements. Also high intake of caffeine. Good luck.

PROBIOTICS! I agree 100% you need to see a GI Dr. Your GP can refer you to one. In the meantime go to a Health food store and talk to them about your issues. They can suggest a Probiotic for digestive health. I have had my gallbladder removed and part of my colon so it goes without saying I have had a number of issues with my digestion. The probiotics will help you if not completely cure your issues and will work very fast. Trust what I'm saying....PROBIOTICS!

"American Health" is the best brand I know of. Cost is about 25.00 for 90 capsules and so worth it.

Someone earlier mentioned intestinal parasites. I had them last year, and it was awful. It's just a simple stool test to see if you have them, which clears up with antibiotics. Maybe mention this too.

Also, I took a Hemocode test last year, which pinpoints all food intolerances which lead to all sorts of symptoms, GI included. Then it's an elimination of all the trigger foods, and a gradual re-introduction to see how your body reacts. Wheat, eggs, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, and cocoa are big trigger foods.

I think you should make an appointment with a GI dr.

^^^This. You could have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, diverticulosis or diverticulitis, an allergy or Crohn's disease just to name a few things that can cause diarrhea. You may need an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy aka upper GI) or colonoscopy to find out what is going on. Each of the above require some dietary modifications, and sometimes medication. Further, if you have chronic diarrhea, you are not absorbing nutrients because they are going through your system too fast.

    Good luck!! :drinker:
