Im officially no longer overweight!!!!

My BMI is now 25!! (point 1, so technically still overweight, but ill take that as a victory!)

Height 171cm.
Weight 161 pounds
Male. 30 years

Ive been eating about 1400cal. And losing steadily (14 pounds since 20th jan)but now i think i should aim to lose maybe 10 pounds more and I've started to exercise.

What should my new calorie goal be as I'm confused by all the numbers now as myfitnesspal says i should be eating 1330 which i know is too low!

Im thinking of increasing my target from 1400 to 1600 cal per day. I don't want to include my exercise calories yet as I want to see how many calories i exercise in an average week then average the calories across 7 days.

thanks for the advice!

did you reset your goals so that you are set to lose half a pound per week that should raise it up. Mine is set to 1580 and we have similar stats.

I just hit the same goal my self the other day. 5'6" and 155lbs with 25% body fat, in theory, as it actually hasn't been measured. I eat 140 a day, but I'm a girl...so I would assume you would want to be at around 1500. If you work out, and are looking to lower your body fat, you have to remember to eat your protein.

  • thanks for the support everyone

whoops, yes, didn't reset it to be only half a pound.... I've set it to lose 1 pound per week which says 1820 calories per day. which seems like a bit too many calories?

would eating at 1820 really still let me lose a pound a week?

Have a read of this post quite similiar. some good advise her. I think you can get away with eating alot more than you do now. You can always try and up the calories slowly and see how you go.
