Anyone run and do weights?

Options
I love running, and right now I'm running 3x's a week, between 15-20 miles. I'm also doing kettlebell 2x's a week. I'm not doing huge weights, but I'm pressing 26lb, and squating between 26 - 35lbs. I also practice yoga.

I don't want to give up running, but I would like to get stronger, so I thought I would focus on overall fitness and do both. But is that reasonable? Anyone else mix it up for overall fitness?

I'm not planning on any races this year, I just want to keep running for me, but also keep up the kettlebell.

For sure. I lift 3-4 times per week and 4- 5 days per week.

lifting helps your running by strengthening legs, back, abs, hips, core, etc in ways that running alone doesnt

Of course you can mix them. I run most days, and do a couple of days of either kettlebells or lifting.

I'm just starting out running, run 3 or 4 days a week, averaging 8-10 miles so far, working my way up slowly. I try to incorporate some strength at least 2 times a week. I'm not really following a specific program, just whatever strikes my fancy that day. Some squats, bench press, leg press, different weight machines. I think mixing things up keeps workouts interesting.

I lift 4x week, and run 2x - 3x week. Nothing better than a nice run the day after leg day (lifting heavy). Just make sure you plan things out depending on your lifting routine. If you lift heavy, a hard run the day before can negatively affect performance, (lifting leg day) in my experience.

I lift 3x a week and run around 35 miles a week (5x a week). I just lay off the heavy lifting when I'm ramping up before a big race.

Lifting has made me a faster and stronger run!! :)

Thank-you, to everyone! I was feeling alone in doing that. I don't know why, maybe because whenever I read stuff online everyone seems exclusive. I enjoy both and want to continue getting stronger as well as run.
