Polar FT4: how do I stop the beeping?

I just got mine, and I'm trying to figure it out. I am guessing that the beeping indicates not being in the target heart rate zone.

Is there a way to shut off the beeping?

    Optin One: always run in the target zone and it won't beep, or

    Optino Two: sell it on eBay as a useless fitness gimmick, or

    Option Three: from the ordinary TIME display:

    (all buttons on the RIGHT HAND SIDE)

    press TOP twice to SETTINGS
    press MIDDLE once, press TOP once to GENERAL SETTINGS
    press MIDDLE once to BUTTON SOUNDS, press MIDDLE once
    press BOTTOM once to OFF
    press MIDDLE once - sounds are now off.

    flipping HRMs - you either love them or hate them.
    (I chose Option Two)

    Yes. I'm starting a new class tomorrow night & thought I'd wear it....but I don't want to be beeping around other people.

    Actually Carlos' post will direct you to turn of the BUTTON sounds, not the TRAINING sounds. The training sound settings are where the beep, beep, beep sound off. To turn off the TRAINING sounds :

    From the ordinary TIME display:

    (all buttons on the RIGHT HAND SIDE)

    press TOP twice to SETTINGS
    press MIDDLE once
    *** press BOTTOM once to TRAINING SETTINGS
    press MIDDLE once to TRAINING SOUNDS, press MIDDLE once
    press BOTTOM once to OFF
    press MIDDLE once - sounds are now off.

    I hope you got it fixed...

    I just bought mine from Omega today... I have tried to use it twice today and I gave up. It kept saying my heart rate was "00" and to "Check heart rate monitor"... I wet it, and did everything I was supposed to do... I don't understand why it's not working. Any ideas?

    Thank you so much for posting that information. I just used mine for the first time today at the gym and it doesn't bother me there, but I want to wear it in my yoga and dance classes and that would be very obnoxious in those settings. Thanks again!

    Akedm......THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting the directions to shut that beeping off! OMG. I pushed every button (or so I thought) to get it to stop. And as far as I can read, the directions are not in the booklet that came with it. It didnt bother me in a kick-boxing class but I took it off in the middle of a Mat Pilates class on Friday.
